JMU has added Kachine Alexander to its coaching staff as an Assistant Coach. She was formerly at Florida Atlantic, and fills the empty spot left by Ashley Langford, who has gone on to become HC at Stony Brook.

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Ahead of her first season at the helm of the Seawolves, women's basketball head coach Ashley Langford announced the additions of three coaching staff members on Tuesday.

Assistant coaches Delmar "Buck" Carey and Nicole Mitchell and director of basketball operations Arnika Edwards will be joining Langford and the two-time America East champions for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign.

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Women's Basketball Coach James Howard announced the addition of WNBA All-Star and Hoya great Sugar Rodgers to the 2021-22 women's basketball staff as an assistant coach. Rodgers returns to the Hilltop after an eight-year WNBA playing career as well as serving as an assistant coach in the WNBA this current season.

What does the Director of Basketball Operations do? That seems like a big title for what what I assume is a person who does not actually hire or fire or give direction. Do they also do the same for other sports at the college?

Each school uses the job different so its difficult to pin point. Travel (Hotels, Flights, Transportation), Food/Meals, Scheduling, Academics, Housing, Admissions, Equipment, Budget, etc. It can be a catch all for everyone besides recruiting, coaching, scouting as the coaches do. Some take on video duties depending on staff, some do scouting. Definitely a liaison between other departments within athletics.

Other sports are adding operations folks, Power 5 will even have Football, Volleyball, Baseball, Lacrosse, Wrestling, Ice Hockey. It depends on their budgets and how they utilize their hires I suppose.
