Fagbenle playing 30 minutes for Cukurova, days after missing both Great Britain qualifiers. Bah. And the best 'British' backup for her playing 15 minutes for the same team. Bah bah. |

Anyone know what's up with Griner? She definitely went over to Ekaterinburg and played for a bit (albeit mostly as a backup and only for about three games), but since then has disappeared from box scores. Is she injured? |

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. The announcer mentioned that UMMC was missing BG, Stewie and Sloot. He noted that Stewie and Sloot had been injured and thought they would join the team later. I don't remember him stating anything concrete about BG's status though.
I watched the Famila Schio (Gruda, DeShields, Charlie Collier) vs. Galatasaray (Riquna Williams, Kaela Davis) game. Schio came out with the win behind a pretty balanced attack. For Gala, Kaela had 24p, 7r, 3a in her 1st Gala game this season. She looked good and definitely seemed like she knew she could take Diamond anytime she wanted. I'm hoping both Diamond and Charlie find a nice groove and confidence overseas because the tools are there!

I saw a picture of Sloot, Quigley and Copper together at today's game, so Sloot is already over there even if not healthy enough to play. Stewart had surgery on her other Achilles after the WNBA season, so I wouldn't expect her to be in Russia any time soon. |

Ok cool! Hopefully we find out what is happening with BG soon. We shall see!

Sloot was sitting in the stands at that game. They showed her during the game. They didnt show Griner. It was a great game though. Avenida really impressed me. Great teamplay and pick& roll action. Copper is going to have a beast offseason so im really curious to see how that translates to the W where she will be defender like the number 1 option on the team.

It's very early, but I'm disappointed to see Chelsea Dungee getting beat out by Stephanie Watts for a starting spot (including more minutes) and simply getting outplayed by her in the Flames' first game. I really thought Dungee just got supremely unlucky in getting drafted to Dallas since it appeared that she was practically banned from getting PT, but maybe the problem really was just her. Hoping she'll be able to get things turned around in a hurry as the WNBL season progresses, in order to help save her WNBA career.
It doesn't bode well for Dungee – or at least is a bad look – that she's coming off the bench for the same team that multiple fellow WNBA rookies whom were actually cut midseason are starting for. (Yes, the father of one of those aforementioned rookies is coaching the team, but the facts still remain.)

I saw Dungee a couple of times with Galatasaray and she looked like a fish out of water. I guess that's why she's now in Australia. It appears the season just started and this is the first game. Maybe Chelsea only got this gig recently and will receive more PT once she's integrated into the system. If not, then yeah, this would be the third pro team where she failed to make an impression.
Fingers crossed that Chelsea hasn't totally lost her mojo.

I saw Dungee briefly in Europe as well, and it definitely looked like she'd been signed by a team playing at a level far beyond what she was ready for as one of their imports. Agreed that it's disappointing that it looks like she may have deserved to be glued to Dallas's bench all season.
Different coaching staff these days, but we saw with Akhator that Dallas weren't afraid to cut bait with a high pick very quickly. Unless they make at least one multiple-player-for-one trades she's by no means a lock to make it through training camp in Dallas next season. |
