Duke's athletic website makes it official - we play them in Durham December 15th. This makes up the part of a contracted home and home that got postponed back in 2018 or 2019 - can't remember exactly right now. Updated above total schedule.
I keep reading that we have 1 or 2 more open slots left for the non-conference portion. Not sure, but could be that with Stanford and Duke getting added recently and being the programs that Staley mentioned recently as working hard on adding, it could be that the other dates will now get filled quickly, if they get filled at all. We'll see......

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan women's basketball team released its full 2021-22 schedule Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 8 ).
The Wolverines will play 11 non-conference games and 18 Big Ten contests during the regular season, with the Big Ten Tournament set for March 2-6, 2022, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Michigan will start the season with four of its first five games at Crisler Center, including an opening-night (Nov. 9) tilt against IUPUI. The Wolverines will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., for the Daytona Beach Invitational, where they will face Oregon State (Nov. 26) and Mississippi State (Nov. 27).
Following a trip to Louisville for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge (Dec. 2) and a home date against Akron (Dec. 5), Michigan will face Wisconsin (Dec. 9) and Minnesota (Dec. 12) in a pair of conference contests. U-M will finish out the non-conference with a Sweet 16 rematch against Baylor in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase at Mohegan Sun (Dec. 19) and Eastern Michigan at home (Dec. 22).
The remaining 16 games of Michigan's Big Ten slate will begin on New Year's Eve, when U-M hosts Ohio State at Crisler Center. The Wolverines will play home-and-home series during the conference schedule against Ohio State, Michigan State, Maryland, Iowa and Wisconsin.
In total, the Maize and Blue will face 10 NCAA Tournament teams from the 2020-21 season.
Tip times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
Michigan is coming off a 16-6 season in 2020-21, reaching the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. U-M welcomes back its two leading scorers in All-American Naz Hillmon (23.9 ppg, 11.4 rpg) and All-Big Ten second-teamer Leigha Brown (18.2 ppg).

I don't fully understand why the conference schedule starts so soon as to bleed into the nonconference slate.

Washington finally announced the Huskies' non-conference schedule today:
Nov. 12 – San Diego
Nov. 14 – Northern Arizona
Nov. 20 – Louisville
Nov. 25 – Virginia Commonwealth (Bahamas Tournament)
Nov. 26/27 – North Carolina (Bahamas Tournament)
Dec. 10 – @ Seattle U
Dec. 18 – Eastern Washington (Husky Classic)
Dec. 20 – Nevada (Husky Classic)
A pretty short 8-game schedule, but it could be that we'll add one or two more games later on (I believe we did last year). I'm actually looking forward to watching this season. No idea what our ceiling is this year, but anything should be better than the past four dreadful years. The Louisville game I'm assuming is Hailey Van Lith's homecoming game, since she's from a town in the mountains about a 2-hour drive from Seattle. Hopefully her & the Cards don't crush us. We may have a shot in all the other games though.

I believe it's to make the conference season less condensed. Can't lengthen the conference season further into late December due to holidays.

Thank god I don't have to read about MD's 'cream puff' non-conference schedule this year.

Seton Hall's non-conference schedule is out! I have decided against going to Mexico to see how we cope with the Caitlin Clark Show, but that Central Florida game looks interesting.
Fordham's non-conference schedule is out, and holy cannoli, the Rams are not f*cking around. See y'all at the Michigan State game? I might actually skip St. John's for this. And I've got that Florida Gulf Coast game circled.

You will note that we still play Liberty, but at least not here this year. *relieved sigh*

ND's schedule has been released. It says that it is the non-conference schedule, but it includes the conference games too.

A brief lesson:
John McNeese (of Scottish heritage and so Mc is pronounced "Mac" and Neese is pronounced like the female child of your brother or sister: Niece) was a native of New York. He was orphaned at an early age and raised by a Dr. Stafford in Baltimore.
John fought in the Civil War as a member of the Union Army.
After the war, he traveled to and settled in Texas and then in Southwest Louisiana. He earned his law degree from Tulane. He was a pioneer in education and was the first superintendent of education in Imperial Calcasieu Parish.
Why is McNeese's mascot Cowboys and Cowgirls? John McNeese led a cattle drive from Texas to the Sabine River.

Great to see some really challenging schedules set up. The usual powerhouses have, as per history, gone where others fear to tread. And some programs on the rise have done the same.
Anybody else here think Baylor and Texas were....NOT so brave in their scheduling? I wasn't overly impressed, in comparing to past seasons.
I'd love to catch the FGCU game too, Queenie....it's only a day trip for me, but I haven't been to the Bronx in ages. |
Bear in mind that Fordham, in their infinite wisdom, has set this as a 2PM tip. I'm going to see if I can get the day off from work. They usually do have one afternoon game in the last week of the year; I'm just sorry that it's such a good foe this year.
Meanwhile, it turns out that Michigan State is doing a two-step in the Big Apple, visiting St. Francis Brooklyn on November 23rd, so I may not have to dip on St. John's after all. On the other hand, Fordham will put up way more of a fight.
