Baylor women became known because the freshman who really lead them to their first national championship (I think her first name was Emily) left after that...and in interviews, she said she left because she was gay and that Mulkey frowned upon that behavior, plus it is against Baylor code of conduct that all students have to live up to... |
Emily Niemann was a SO on the National Championship team. She was the 3rd best player on that team, with no statistical argument that could put her above Sophia Young or Stephanie Blackmon(and could arguably be placed 4th behind Whitaker)
Even in the tournament run, until the Final Four: you could easily say Young, Blackmon, and potentially Whitaker and their Center(name escapes me), had a bigger impact on their title run.
She did has a strong showing in the Final Four and Chammpionship game, solely because defenses chose to try to shutdown Young and Blackmon(still did not slow Young down much). Even with that, I find it hard to see any statistical proof, or memories of that run, to suggest anyone but Young being the best and most impactful player on that title team. |

OKstateguy - If you read my text it does state that Emily led them to their national championship...she left because of Mulkey's stance on being gay and the schools code of conduct.

I remember watching the Final Four and it was Emily's shooting that got them past LSU in the semis. She also had a great championship game..she was the best player in the Final Four for Baylor. Taking the average from all 6 games isn't indicative of her impact. She was also on the FF all tourney team so the poster a few posts back is wrong.

Not only was she shooting well from outside, she was posting up as well in the LSU matchup. Played well on both sides of the ball.

Wait, is this in the wrong subject line?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Continuing to build her inaugural coaching staff at Vanderbilt, head coach Shea Ralph announced Tuesday the additions of Chris Brann and David Myckowiak to the program.
Brann will serve as the program’s director of operations and brings 15 years experience in the role to Music City. Myckowiak joins Vanderbilt as the program’s video coordinator after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant in the same role at Missouri State.

Looks like Christine Clark is no longer on Athletics Staff Directory. So seems to have replaced her. Not sure where she went.
