He showed society that a high school dropout can still make it big in America

He had a great voice.
I didn’t like it and always suspected it was a bit of a put on for radio but I wanted to at least try for one sentence not to speak ill of the dead._________________ Every woman who has ever been presented with a career/sex quid pro quo in the entertainment industry should come forward and simply say, “Me, too.” - jammer The New York Times 10/10/17 |

Damn. I used to watch the CBS pregame show like it was a religion when it was Cross and Musberger. |

I posted about his death on some music boards and my social media. I write a series called The Cassette Chronicles so obviously Lou Ottens is responsible for me being able to do that. |

I saw a few of his movies obviously, but he was just awesome on Homicide: Life on the Street. |

Elgin Baylor was the single most significant and exciting pro player to spark my love of basketball. As for aerobatic, hang-time high-flyers, before MJ there was Dr. J, and before Dr. J there was Elgin, and before Elgin there was . . . no one.
After more than 60 years, the 6-5 Baylor is still third in the NBA for career PPG and 10th in career RPG. The nine players ahead of Baylor on the rebounding list all played center at least part of the time. |
