I'm trying to figure out why Tara thinks it's a good idea for Jones to be the ball handler. 7 turnovers later....
And why have Belibi in the end game when they are fouling?
Anyway, not pretty, but we will take it.

I had the same question about Jones. She is still too wild with her passing sometimes and is not really the person you want dribbling around under pressure. She is so talented. Needs to stop the goofy turnovers.

Last season, McDonald made 45% of her FGs. After today's game, it's down to 38% on the season... and that 3PT% is still in the 20s. |
I've seen a handful of her games and I've never been left with a feeling that I'm watching a player who'll be able to play in the W. What is her shooting % vs. top 25 teams? |
Here's what she has done this season vs. all of Arizona's Top-25 opponents:
12-4-20 | in a 3-pt win vs. #9 UCLA: 17 pts on 7-16 FG (1-6 3PT) & 2-4 FT, 5 ast to 3 to's
1-1-21 | in a 27-pt loss vs. #1 Stanford: 12 pts on 3-18 FG (1-6 3PT) & 5-8 FT, 5 ast to 2 to's
1-14-21 | in a 16-pt win vs. #10 Oregon: 16 pts on 6-14 FG (2-6 3PT) & 2-6 FT, 2 ast to 1 to's
2-8-21 | in a 20-pt win vs. #11 Oregon: 13 pts on 4-16 FG (1-3 3PT) & 4-4 FT, 4 ast to 2 to's
This game | a 14-pt loss vs. #4 Stanford: 20 pts on 8-24 FG (0-6 3PT) & 4-4 FT, 4 ast to 3 to's
Certainly nothing stellar, although I was surprised to see how under control her to's were in each game. She has legitimately improved that part of her game, so there should be little doubt at this point that she's a 1 at the pro level (cuz she ain't a 2 shooting like that). These numbers also of course don't describe at all how effective she may have been defensively in those games. |
Yeah-she can't be a 2 in the W. Some of her misses are bad. The defense at the next level will be even better. However, if she's a 5th option and on the right team, she might be able to do something. She is certainly quick enough.
