I'm not sure why PHX would want to go the small route when they've had such success with being big. I don't think they can recapture 2009. |
Thing is that the Mercury played better last season with Taurasi at her natural 2 position. Xargay is going to miss some time with Eurobasket so getting a speedy PG who can also defend pretty well isnt a bad idea.. |
So a trade could involve the Mercury getting a point guard? What about Bone to San Antonio for Danielle Robinson. Is that really a ''blockbuster'' trade though? PHX get's their point guard and Bone goes back home to Texas. Bone never seemed to fit with the Mercury last year anyways. She never got off the bench, and when she did, she did very little.
Plus, San Antonio doesn't need Robinson now that they have Jefferson and they really need a post player or two. |
Bone isnt worth Drob though certainly not after last season. Mercury would have to put something extra in |
How could you really give Drob & Worth score after not playing for almost 365 days ? I think this is a fair trade . Bone Going back home to TX and D Rob being utilized somewhere that she can play big time minutes .

You could juice it up a little
Bone and #5 for D-Rob and #13
going with the other thought
Bonner and Dupree for D-Rob and #1?

I just read the earlier part of the thread about Dupree and Bonner. Seems like either one could want a trade.

If I'm a rebuilding team, I want no part of Bone. That would be a total waste of DRob as an asset.

But if you do the algebra,
#13 = 0
Therefore,
Bone + #5 = DRob

#13 might make you feel a little bit better about yourself if you're PX who had to throw in #5 because Bone wasn't enough. Every team needs a 12th roster spot, so a cheap 2nd rounder could work. #13 I would say has a 50/50 shot of making that last spot in PX (probably higher if it stays in SA)

Maybe Bone to Indiana for January? Not exactly blockbuster, but we've seen worse. |
Why on Earth would Indiana have any interest in that? Unless January recently died and I haven't heard.
Even then it's still a maybe. |

Not sure what you read earlier by DeWanna and Candace are married now so if one of them wants a trade that would be weird, no?

I thought this was a weak draft..

It depends.......If 2 or 3 underclassmen declare for the draft,SA can draft Plum,Deshields or Mitchell with the 1st pick, then draft Coates with the 5th pick.If Mitchell Declares for the draft,I don't see Dallas passing on Mitchell,Deshields or Plum. And I don't see LA drafting Coates.

PHX traded away Currie. Remember how her and Taurasi clashed on lower rims?

I keep hearing rumors of a blockbuster traded involving the mercury.Does this trade involve Griner ?....or is it a package deal of Dupree/Bonner ?
Dupree & Bonner for MCcoughtry ?
Dupree,Bonner + #5 pick for Robinson,Currie & Mcbride ?
Griner for Boyette,Vandersloot & Quigley ? |
Given that Griner is the youngest of Phoenix's stars, I cannot see that happening. She is a RFA, but Phoenix has to match any offer.
Bonner has the core designation. Petrovic and Xargay are reserved players. So Phoenix has exclusive negotiating rights.
Mistie Bass will be out this year due to pregnancy (and she was an UFA regardless). And Penny Taylor retired.
Phoenix needs a SF replacement for Taylor and bench depth. Xargay started a number of games, as did Petrovic, but they are probably better off the bench for depth.
If it were a blockbuster trade, I am curious if it would involve Bonner...and by extension, Dupree.
Pilight, as there even been a trade involving two Core players (e.g., Bonner for McCoughtry)?

Yes, but they weren't traded for each other. Sylvia Fowles and Erika DeSouza were both core players in 2015 when the three team deal sending Fowles to Minnesota and DeSouza to Chicago happened.
