Instead of throwing any sports updates in the main thread of the pandemic, I figured I'd start a new, separate thread here.

Quote: |
The remainder of the summer schedule plays out as first reported by Golf Digest on Tuesday, with the Tour next traveling to Hilton Head, S.C., for the RBC Heritage (June 18-21), which was originally scheduled for this week. The Heritage, initially canceled by the Tour, fills the spot vacated by the U.S. Open, which has been postponed until September. Following the Heritage is the Travelers Championship (June 25-2, which remains in its original spot on the schedule, then the Rocket Mortgage Classic (July 2-5) at Detroit Golf Club. |

In an empty sports world, ESPN will televise the release of the NFL schedule at 8pm tonight with a three(3) hour special. The WNBA Draft received just a two hour window to which most of the second and third round picks didn't get announced.

Select NWSL teams have started their training camps where allowed. All attending have to wear a mask and gloves.

ESPN (and I mean main ESPN not ESPN 2, 3 or 47) was showing the US corn hole finals this afternoon, so I am sure they are desperate for anything to start up.
PS there were no fans in the gym and the contestants wore masks.

That's what I was watching today, too. I love playing the game myself. It's usually cornhole gets aired once a year when they do the ESPN Ocho thing. Now they're desperate and are airing most of it live. But I agree, most people are pushing for an MLB season. Certain players may sit out, but I think it's a go come July.

Cleveland Cavaliers' Larry Nance hopes NBA considerate of those with preexisting conditions
Quote: |
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. is one of the NBA players with a preexisting condition that could make him more vulnerable to COVID-19. He's hoping people like him will be considered if the league attempts a restart in the near future.
Nance has Crohn's disease and uses a therapy that has enabled him to have a successful basketball career but also suppresses his immune system.
"I would hope there would be an understanding [from the league] if someone didn't feel comfortable coming back that'd you get a pass," Nance said. "Just because you may look like the picture of health, some people have issues you can't see." |
Quote: |
"We're young and you know the kind of shape players are in, you'd like to think [the virus] wouldn't be what it could be for others. But you don't know," Nance said. "I'm still scared and don't want to get it." |
Quote: |
"I'm paying super close attention to everything that is going on," he said. "I was watching the German soccer league over the weekend and seeing how the players were interacting with each other and still seeing them make a lot of contact. I can't even imagine being on one of those calls trying to hash this out. There's so many ways to spread this." |

NWSL considering summer tournament in Salt Lake City.

According to Steven Goff of The Washington Post, the NWSL is considering a one-month tournament this summer in the Salt Lake City area, using the RSL Academy dorms, training center, and area hotels. All nine NWSL teams would be involved. We can expect that fans would not be allowed. |

NBA to announce guidelines for players' return by June 1.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29200984/nba-teams-expecting-guidelines-june-1-players-return
Quote: |
Barring an unforeseen turn of events, many NBA owners, executives and National Basketball Players Association elders believe commissioner Adam Silver will green-light the return to play in June -- with games expected to resume sometime before the end of July, sources said.
The NBA is still considering a two-site format for the return of the season, including Orlando's Walt Disney World and Las Vegas, sources said. |
