Very curious to see how Ionescu and Sabally look against this team.

The one game I've actually wanted to watch in this whole series and the stream doesn't work. |

20-16 USA with 3:31 left in first
Taurasi with a couple of threes.

gee, I think Team USA scrubs are a wee bit better than the Oregon scrubs. I guess he's gotta play 'em all, but I was hoping to see a real game. Oh, well. Sabally looking (as usual IMO) to be the best player Oregon has.

Hebard’s athleticism is clearly WNBA caliber. Sabally is WNBA-ready right now. That said, the player drawing multiple defenders is Sabrina. I’d like to see her left hand get better. But, in the WNBA she won’t be seeing this much defensive attention without defenses paying a price.

I wonder if anyone will notice that the USA's old legs are pretty slow.

It would of course make a slight difference if USA had A'ja, Griner, Tina...

It only makes sense that a lousy coach like Reeve could coach a team off all WNBA superstars to a loss to a college team. 😝

You are right on so many levels!
Oregon definitely looks good! Actually all of the college teams they've played looked promising.

Add to that the number of players who haven't really played since 2018.... Missing core players....minimal practice time and chemistry.....No defensive or solid 2 and 3 guards....Syl is the only 5...4 games in 8 days.... and so on...
Whelp, better now than later #Go USA
Btw, where is Aja again?

Better question, does this move Ionescu up to the senior national team?

She’s not in the current player pool. Maybe she’ll be going the 3x3 route.

They said some kind of family issue during the game.

She's been in the camps before (and easily could've been taken to Worlds last year instead of Plum or Clarendon). If she is targeting the 3x3 in Tokyo as some have suggested then maybe it's her choice as much as anything. |

And EDD, and Stewie... Team USA is just undersized right now with 6-2 Nneka and 6-1 Collier being the only "bigs" behind Fowles. Those 3rd Qtr drives by Sabrina would have been a lot tougher to make if the USA had rim protection. Ionescu probably wouldn't even try half of them. Still, great job by Oregon. This was the most intense Team USA looked to start a game against the college clubs. Oregon fought back and the big three stepped up like you'd expect them to.

A'ja had a death in the family so she returned to South Carolina. I suppose a gold medal is a gold medal, but I would think the "traditiona" 12 person team is more prestigious than the 3x3 team. Regardless, Ionescu passes the eye test and is only going to get better from here on out.
