The top three in + all have new coaches ...
The bottom three include aging and uninterested (much of the time) Minnesota, a new coach and a coach that has less than a sterling reputation.
Coaching does matter as long as there is talent to work with ...

Maybe they'll win in the playoffs this year, or maybe not.

Reeve was probably stupid like me and assumed Maya Moore would be an MVP-caliber player this year, and not that Maya needed Perkins, Montgomery, Howard, and Pierson to make her look good, since Maya is worth at least -2 or -3 wins this year versus prior years. Or Reeve isn't a great coach, since players become "better" when they leave the Lynx, and players like Maya become "mediocre" instead when they stay on the Lynx, because it is embarrassing knowing that Howard is statistically better than Maya Moore this season, making it look like the Lynx should've traded Maya Moore instead, though then Maya would probably average 25 ppg, 9 rpg, 7 apg, & 4 spg, while Howard would still average 10 mpg on the Lynx playing behind whatever mediocre veteran they signed to replace Pierson (originally Kizer). Though in theory, Reeve should've not kept Brunson, but that would've never happened because of "feelings".

Yeah, I was trying keep things cleaner by not including marginal value entities other than the coaches.

Plus, Laimbeer was the guy making the roster moves, so he gets credit for most personnel changes except Wilson. (Anybody smarter than a rock knew to draft Wilson.)

Let's all remember that Indiana was bad last year, and is now much, much worse. Some of that might be intentional, though does anyone really think the likes of the January and Larkins we see this year would make much of a difference? Pokey has somehow managed to make a bad team look like it will challenge for the least or second least number of wins in WNBA history. the rookies look worse than when the season started? The signing of Cappie is ludicrous.
What else does a coach have to do to get fired?

Pokey has a history of going the extra mile in that regard

Meh from Thibault? Because his record is 1 game worse after replacing 2 borderline all-star players with a roleplayer and a mid-1st round rookie?

Some might be marginal, but Tamara Young is playing 26.9 mpg in place of Alex Montgomery who is pretty far down the Chicago bench this year (6.4 mpg in 19 games).
Colson (11.6 mpg) and Holmes (11.3 mpg) combined for 22.9 mpg in 2017 but couldn't make a WNBA roster this year. Kayla Alexander was 15.4 mpg in 2017, but this year is 9.0 mpg on the worst team.

I guess this is a season that goes under the category of "Coaches Do Matter". Boucek out, Hughes in Seattle is +11. Cooper out, Collen in Atlanta is + 11. The 3 teams that improved the most brought in new coaches. Team that dropped the most changed coaches too.

You could also interpret as
MSG leaves NYL: -15
Wilson and MGM come to LVA: +6
‘Nuf sed.

That was definitely it, and then he was doubly cursed by replacing the poised Chong with the Spanish flameoutco dancer. |
