Last night I went to my first Storm game in Seattle. I estimated the crowd at 2800. The announced attendance was 7000+. Unless they were counting legs their was some serious padding. Is this normal for the Storm?

The lower bowl at Key Arena holds 9,686. Judging by watching on League Pass, it looked about half that(4,500-5,000). But it does seem like the Storm pad their numbers, like most.

The difference in arena atmosphere in Dallas (er Arlington) this year is clear. Good for the Wings. The players play hard and the crowd loves it.

Dallas looks like they're on pace to average ~1,500 more than last season. Probably the biggest jump for any team this year(%). Also, majority of games in Dallas last year they would close off the upper "bowl". So far it's only be closed off once this year. But overall attendance is way down compared to last year.

I like the Fact that marketing is reaching out to the city alot more this season using Skylar as the face or having her appear in different venues around the metroplex and also her commercial on TV along with her radio stop byes and promoting games on the radio ALOT more this year. The TV deal is also getting the team some publicity within the city thanks Fox Sports Net and Go Wings!

Understandable with Westchester situation mostly, the atrocious Fever and the disappearing Mystics fans. Things tend to pick up in July and August it seems.

Yes. I'll have to do the numbers tomorrow to see what the average is without New York. But 3/4 of the league is averaging under 7k. Not good.

Tonight was reportedly a 13k sellout in LA as well. Wonder why they're drawing so well after losing a championship game. Would be interesting to know if there've been any special initiatives that have led to it that other teams could copy (besides several years of being really good). |
LA has a couple entertaining players like Gray.

Being there I can tell you it was far less than half full. The center sections were 80% full but the corners and baseline were at best 20%. And there are for more seats in the latter category.

*The attendance from the Mystics @ Sun game on 6/13 was never reported. Out of 14 games this week(excluding the missing Sun #), only 4 games saw crowds over 7k. Took the Liberty's numbers out to see the difference, and without those games the league would average 6,725 at this point.

Per some of the members of the Mercury Brigade who made the trip to Vegas for last night, the arena feels very intimate and made for a good game atmosphere, but Vegas still needs to build up its own fan base (as there were a good percentage of those in attendance who were Mercury fans).
Still, it was good to hear some in-person accounts of the arena and atmosphere.

To me the Storm numbers this year have been looking more inflated than in years past relative to what I see in the arena.

6/16/2018 the attendance for the Mercury was 12,497 and for the 6/22/2018 game it was 11,349. These are not inflated numbers as I was in attendance and witnessed the huge crowds.

Still no reported attendance for the June 13 game @ Connecticut. Might have to insert the # as zero(0).
