This could be a move to boost attendance....or maybe Bill really sees Shoni as a on court asset. |
He likes big guards...

That explains why he invited Morgan William and hasn’t cut her yet.
He also must be tickled with Jefferson. Plum isn’t very big herself.

Shoni has a lot of skills, just needed to get into shape and work on the d. Glad she is getting another chance.

Can someone explain the rule concerning the comments here about cutting players when overseas players return? Are teams allowed 12 players plus overseas players rights, then required to cut to 12?

They can only have 12 players under contract when the season starts whether they are here or overseas.
The comments on the board about cutting players when overseas players arrive are really in relation to the number of players allowed in training camp, which I believe is 18 (but could be wrong). The training camp number is for bodies in camp, not the number of contracts a team has. So a team can have the max number of players in camp (some with training camp contracts) and have additional players under contract that are overseas and not in camp. When the overseas player arrives, the team either has to waive the overseas player or cut a training camp contracted player to stay within the allowed number of bodies in camp.

In the case of LV both Plum and McBride won't arrive until after the season is in progress because they will be in Turkey until at least the 21st, maybe longer. In that case LV can start the season with 12 player not including Plum and McBride as long as they can pay them and stay under the cap, also Plum and McBride will not be paid for the time they are not with the team.
When Plum and McBride arrive LV can take them off temporary suspension at which point they have to pay them. Also at that point LV would have to cut two players so they can stay at the 12 play max
for example at the beginning of the season LV could have
Colson/Schimmel/Jefferson
Young/Holmes
Coffey/Nared
Wilson/Hamby
Bone/Swords/Park
with Plum and McBride on temporary suspension for not being with the team.
Then when Plum and McBride arrive LV would have to cut two of the players above so they can add McBride and Plum to the active roster let's say Colson and Holmes (or any other 2 players).
Plum/Schimmel/Jefferson
McBride/Nared
Young/Coffey
Wilson/Hamby
Bone/Swords/Park

I count 18 including Harrison. Is she going to be full season suspended or do they plan on bringing her back again this season?
Could she be part of the exemption between her and Jefferson to get an extra player?
Come on, Laimbeer. Show your cards.

I'd imagine Harrison will be suspended for the season.

So trying to see where Las Vegas stands with their injured & late arrivals.
CURRENT ROSTER(12)
K. Bone
N. Coffey
S. Colson
D. Hamby
R. Louis
J. Nared
J. Park
S. Schimmel
C. Swords
M. William
A. Wilson
T. Young
LATE
K. Plum
M. McBride
INJURED
M. Jefferson
SUSPENDED
I. Harrison
How many exemptions are they allowed? Jefferson probably is added to their opening day 12 and two get cut when Plum & McBride show up(Louis & William) meaning one more cut needs to happen.

Other than poster speculation/commentary, has there been confirmation as to Isabelle Harrison missing the season (as opposed to taking a leave of absence and just missing training camp), and, if so, the reason (the WNBA.com article only mentions taking a leave of absence and missing training camp)?

Nope, nothing beyond that original statement. Everything else is just people guessing. |

I noticed Morgan William and Jamie Nared were doing PR at a radio station this morning. I wonder if that means anything.

yeah, it means they're getting a little exposure before getting cut.
