So it begins....im veryyy anxious to see this matchup. A loss wont end the world but a win wont be much neither. 10 games from now the truth shall be exposed on both sides.

The first Cambage vs. Griner match-up. Voted for Phoenix.

So thankful to have DB back.
Haven’t seen Liz play in a while. However, the other four on the floor for Dallas seem like they would thrive in an up-tempo style, while Liz’s game, from what I remember, is more suited to a halfcourt style. |

Wings could lead th league in scoring this season, I think they are a bad match up for The Mercury. |

Enh, voted for Phoenix. They've been together longer. 1st regular season game for Dallas with all the pieces. Plus the game is in Phoenix.

Cambage is one of the few that can possibly contain Griner.
Taurasi gives Phoenix an advantage of long ball possibilities.
Coach, advantage Phoenix.
No Phoenix player can match Glory.
Advantage Dallas on the rest of the starter matchups,
Bench, big advantage Dallas.
The expectations are high in Dallas. It's time to prove it on the court.

I'm also anxious to see which version of Liz we get this season.
These days she is a more complete player than the last time she was in the WNBA. Better physical shape, more complete offensive game, and a better passer out of the post.
However foul trouble still plagues her. Her attitude towards that in the WNBL was to not really adjust her game too much, but instead to claim that WNBL refs just don't know how to deal with someone as physically dominant as her (which did have some truth to it, and that will be far less of an issue in the WNBA where she'll face a lot more opponents close to her size, but still refs obviously don't want to hear it), and she openly said that things will be better for her in the WNBA where the refs allow more physicality.
Problem is, as a defender she still tends to swipe at every shot that looks like being attempted, and every ref in the world is going to whistle you when you hit arm. She's also prone to running over people and getting charges called on her.
So I wonder quickly we will see [expression of shock] "What for???" Liz.
If she can stay focussed she'll be very effective, but it's still a big if for me.
Also, in the WNBL she had Jenna O'Hea as a full-time, on-court babysitter. I can't imagine any Wings teammate wanting to take on the role of consoling her every 5 minutes. (I don't know that it's a good thing that Jenna did it either tbh, but I can see why she felt the need to. I've had a diva on my team before and it's distracting)
Anyway, fingers crossed we get the all-business version of Liz this season, because aussie representation in the W is starting to get a bit thin on the ground.

Interested to see this matchup, primarily as many have mentioned, for the Griner v. Cambage matchup. Granted, I have not seen Cambage in a few years, but to me, despite the similarity in height, they are completely different players and can't guard each other. Griner is more athletic and has more finesse, while I remember Cambage having more strength. So, to me, Cambage is too slow to guard Griner, and Griner is not bulky enough to deal with Cambage's girth. I could be totally wrong given my lack of recent exposure to Cambage.
Diggins-Smith and January will be another good matchup to watch.
I voted Phoenix as I think integrating Cambage is going to take longer than a few preseason games. They will probably get it together, but not yet. |

Cambage got 4 O fouls in that last game! She better hope for different refs. Bonner's pretty good at flopping ...as is Sancho.

Azura had 2 good preseason games and 1 bad one against the likes of Wilson, Brionna Jones and other rookies.
Playing in regular games against the likes of Griner, Fowles, Cambage is a whole other thing

I voted for the squad with the best defensive post and has the best chance of making it to the finals.
