what's the point in having one game on ABC and the rest on ESPN2. |

ABC gets you the eyeballs. Everybody has the channel. If we only get two ABC dates a year, I'm not complaining. The ABC game is during the day on a weekend. Can't expect prime time.

Meeting a contract obligation?
Well, I probably won't have to worry much about the playoff schedule.

Always a problem with seeding regardless of conference. If Washington and New York are seeded #5/#6, it'll suck whoever gets that 10pm start. Though I believe last year's schedule was changed because of this outcome.

It was changed due to a Sunday conflict at MSG. And that meant the game wasn't on ESPN because of college FB. I think it will end up being Phoenix or Seattle at that spot though.

Yeah, seems unlikely Phoenix gets that #4 seed. Though if Washington and New York advance to the semis, only the game 4 times will be weird with one of them playing at 9pm EST on a Tuesday.

But even if they get lucky for the first two round, for the semis we're more than likely going to have Minnesota and LA as the top two seeds. That's going to mean some less-then-ideal tip-off times. It's an inevitable consequence of dumping conferences and having a schedule that's set in stone by ESPN, unfortunately. Good thing Minnesota isn't all that 'west' of a Western Conference team, I guess. |

basically if seeds are what they remain to be and no upsets happen, this is what the schedule will look like. Minnesota hosting games at 6pm CST won't be good. I have to imagine the league will change those times to 8pm & 10pm EST. Times for the finals likely won't change regardless of the home team.

Conflicts for all teams currently 1-9. Seeds #7/#8 wouldn't get a home game until the semis. Seeds #1/#2 don't play until the semis.

Minnesota Lynx post season games will be be played at the Barn on the University of MN campus, not at the Xcel Center.

ok. thanks. Interesting since the Xcel Center only has the two conflicts. it's been changed to reflect this.

the schedule listed on .com has the first round games on Wednesday, September 6 & Thursday, September 7. |
I saw that too. The schedule I posted comes from the ESPN programming schedule. If a team has a conflict and so plays on the 6th, I am not sure it would get an ESPN slot.

for Sept. 6, ESPN has the US Open & ESPN2 has NFL Live & 30 for 30. could just be a back-up date. Capital One Arena isn't available on Sept. 7 for the Mystics, so maybe their game gets played on Sept. 6 if they're a #5/#6 seed?

The schedule in the 2017 Guide & Register has both on the 7th. It's the same as Nerd2's, except that the second round games didn't have a TV channel assigned to them.
But as we've seen, in certain circumstances they'll move things. It's just that it's often complicated, especially with ESPN dictating matters. |

If the conflicts were hockey games, it's probably not feasible to switch floors back and forth quickly or at low expense.

Sun Announce Home Playoff Dates
Uncasville – Complete seeding for WNBA Playoffs 2017 presented by Verizon must still be determined, but the Connecticut Sun now has dates for a possible home game.
Depending upon where it finishes in the overall WNBA standings,
Connecticut will host a playoff game at Mohegan Sun Arena on September
7th, 10th or 12th.
At 19-10, the Sun have the third best record in the WNBA. Connecticut
locked up at least one home playoff game with the win over Phoenix Sunday, and cannot fall below a No. 6 seed. Under the current WNBA format, eight teams qualify for the postseason. Teams finishing fifth through eighth will play a single-elimination game in the first round, with the five and six seeds hosting. The Sun would play a first round game on September 7th.
If the Sun finish third or fourth, they would earn a first-round bye and host a single-elimination game in the second round on September 10th.
Should the Sun finish as one of the top two teams in the WNBA, they would receive two byes, and host the first game of a best-of-five semifinal series on September 12th.

Unless by some miracle the Sun get the #2 seed, it should be Connecticut and New York with the home games on the 10th. Will be curious who gets the 5pm start.

Should the Liberty advance to the WNBA Semifinals, Game 3 of the best-of-5 series scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17, would not be played at Madison Square Garden due to the Paul McCartney concert scheduled for that evening. Game 3 would take place instead at the Westchester County Center. Game 4, if necessary, would be at The Garden, along with all other potential Liberty home playoff games.
“While there is a conflict with Madison Square Garden for a potential home playoff game due to a Paul McCartney concert, the New York Liberty will strive to create a first-class playoff environment for both our players and fans at Westchester County Center,” Team President Isiah Thomas said. “We look forward to playing all of our other potential home playoff games at The Garden.” |

First round games likely at Phoenix & Washington. Washington would get the 8pm start & Phoenix the 10pm start(EST).
