On ODUsports website, Dr. Selig said that more than 100 applied for head coach position at ODU. I find it hard to believe. Do you believe what he said? I thought 50 or less is reasonable but more than 100? Wow. |
You have to wonder how many of them were applications that could be taken seriously, though, and how many people applied just for the heck of it.

Raina Harmon is moving from Central Michigan (her alma mater) to the bench at Iowa - filling the spot Lacey Goldwire vacated.

100 applicants for a Div. I head coaching job is not out of the unordinary.
Some applicants have no idea what it takes to be a head coach on the Div. I level let alone II or III level (recruiting rules, recruiting in general, etc.) so high school coaches who have won a lot will apply...AAU coaches apply...even junior high coaches apply thinking they know what it takes to coach on that level...the X's and O's are just a small part of a head coaches job in the NCAA, NAIA, Junior College level...it's recruiting, public relations with the university/college community and the community in which the school is located, fund raising events for the athletic department, managing and hiring their staff, PR with athletes and parents, etc.
Many NCAA Divison I schools are also looking for someone with a master's degree, which many of the applicants might not have...
To be honest, 100 applicant for the ODU jobs seems low!

One whole month after the rumor popped up? I wonder if there were a lot of applicants. Or did DePaul had her in mind all along?

The following news happened a couple of weeks ago, and I don't recall seeing it reported here before. If it has, my apologies, but here goes...
Cindy Blodgett has been promoted to an associate head coaching position at Boston University. The head coach there is Katy Steding.
This is Cindy's second time around as BU's assistant. She was previously there in 1999.
