According to multiple Swish Appeal sources, New Mexico State’s Mark Trakh will be named the next leader for the Women of Troy. Trakh actually coached at USC from 2004-2009. |

Goldsberry was Duffy's high school coach - he also coached former UCONN player Tamika Williams in high school.

If true, USC has pulled victory from the jaws of defeat. Trakh is a great coach and a gentleman. He also knows how to get a program on its feet right away because USC is flat on its back right now. I also think this will pull Destiny Littleton back to the Trojans.
Trakh will also be coaching against his disciple, Jody Wynn in the Pac.

Trakh could not move the needle in his first stint, but he seems to be a better coach now.

Trakh's tenure was riddled with injuries. Some even suggested it was his coaching that caused them. In 2009, even with all the injuries and 4th place finish, he still got USC to the conference title game, where they lost to Stanford. They did not make the tourney and Trakh was fired. The two Coopers succeeded him.

Trahk recruited a final four line-up of Gemelos, Gilbreath x2, Cassie Harberts, Monique Oliver and then barely got to coach any of them.
V happy for him

Was he a great recruiter, did he have some ace recruiting assistant? I just was thinking whether its realistic for him to recruit like that now, with UCLA doing well, the Pac 12 in general being very deep. Getting a stacked roster like that will be very hard in my opinion.

Trakh started out as a highly successful high school coach in Southern California, and has never lost that pipeline. Presumably he will continue to recruit well in SoCal and slowly build USC back up after the glitzy but hugely unsuccessful runs of the Coopers.
Star power is nice, but coaching ability is even better ...

Did Neighbors hear it as well?
Just a thought about Trakh and recruiting. He was an outstanding recruiter and he might now own the Southland. UCLA has now cast their nets further out, especially Texas and has had fewer local players. I believe their heralded 2017 class has not one player from Southern California.
