The interim tag has been removed. Grambling State has named Freddie Murray Head WBB Coach and signed him to a 2 year deal. http://gsutigers.com

Why did he quit Dayton? I was thinking it was said to be health reasons but I'm not sure. |
Yeah, I thought he had a heart attack! But not sure!!!

He could have been cleared by his medical team to return to coaching.

Yes it was health issues, but the weather could be a benefit for him.

She did a great job at Puget Sound ... I know several players who went there and they all enjoyed it.

Good for her. But I think she's been a very good sidekick/balance to Graves for several years so it'll be interesting to see who he brings in now.

The timing is interesting, unless they hire someone really quickly they won't have anyone out on the road recruiting for the two weekends this April where coaches can watch AAU teams play. Puts any new coach behind the 8 ball immediately.

Kind of a no-surprise to those of us in the CAA, although as Durantula says, the timing is interesting. UNCW has been in the basement for a few years now.

Wow!
And "Wow" on the Nicole Powell move. I think she could have positioned herself for a much better head coaching job if she hung around Oregon for a few more seasons. She was also the FIRST name that popped in my mind to vill the immediate assistant coaching void at her alum Stanford now that Tucker is gone.
Will be interesting to see what direction Vanderveer and staff go. Hope they bring a young coach on or an alum.

I didn't realize how young Amy Tucker is. She's only 56. Tara is 63.

I like the hire.
Extensive west coast experience, built LBSU over time and had a big band in some of the highly ranked classes Trakh signed at SC.

Jody and Derek Wynn have been West Coast fixtures for a while -- Jody Anton was also a star at Brea-Olinda, leading the Ladycats (hate that name) to three straight state titles.
She paid her dues at Long Beach State, going 8-23 in her second year, but winning more games each season until last year's 24-9.
Expect, however, a similarly slow rise at Washington, which, though it is a great long-term job, will have to start over after losing the heart and soul of this year's team -- and Mike Neighbors' heavy reliance on his seniors, which led to limited development for those who will return next year. (The graduated seniors took 63% of the shots, for example ...)

Good luck to Coach Wynn next season.
I wonder what's going to happen with the assistants, though.
OTOH, I saw that her husband, Derek Wynn, was her assistant at Long Beach State. I guess Derek is going to join her as a part of her staff at UW also.
