Me either. Based on talent alone, Ohio State should be a top 2 seed. Unfortunately, they have 0 discipline and Kelsey Mitchell has a freedom to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants to do it, with no consequence. They dribble way too much, led by her.
Will be a fascinating game where Epps and Mitchell get theirs. It depends on two things, the supporting casts and coaching. I think tOSU has a better supporting cast, but don't do anything with it....and Mitchell is a better coach.
Kentucky is at home, so I go with the Wildcats.
One thing that surprises me is that one of Muffet's people is this inept of an offensive coach and let's his team be so undisciplined.

I think OSU is favored by 3.5 which I think shows how talented they are given that they are a worse seed and playing a true road game. OSU has the size/length to disrupt Akhator with McCoy and Hart. They have multiple defenders that can pose problems for Epps, such as Doss and Epps' former teammate Harper.
When you think of all that UK has lost, and that OSU is pretty loaded, plus they added one of UK's best players, you'd think they should win. But in UK's defense they have been better than I expected this year. Their PG Murray had been injured recently so I'm not sure if she's 100% but she might be able to give Mitchell some problems because she is super fast and can get a lot of steals. She is small though so Mitchell may be able to use her bigger body to get into the paint on her.

Bad foul by Rice there, Mitchell was driving out of control, make her convert a tough shot, don't put her on the line for easy free throws.

Its basically 4 on 4 because OSU is face guarding Epps and Epps is just standing around. But Akhator is getting some good looks because they aren't doubling down off of Epps.
OSU up 12-8 with 4:54 left in the 1st. Mitchell has two long threes and 10 of the 12 points.

Can I hope that both teams lose?
Don't really like either one.

Too many of the women calling NCAA games are forcing their voices up an octave or two.
No need, we can hear you. Beth Mowins' doing it right. Nell Fortner use your natural range.

Perceptive. Others, like Antonelli, shout without going up an octave.
The ne plus ultra are the Lobogasms. |

Harper is killing her old team. Epps is not involved at all, why is she not getting the ball more? This can't be the first time she's been face guarded all year.

Mitchell with a big time cross over and 3 over Akhator.
Kentucky down 12 with 6:28 left in the half. Kentucky without a big game from Epps has no chance. Might as well move her to the PG spot so she can get touches.

Ohio State is another team that could have made for an exciting Final 4 participant due to their style of play. They could still make it because I think ND is the 3rd best 1 seed but I find it amazing how every challenging team outside the 1 seed line avoided Stockton. Or more directly, how South Caorlina avoided every team worth a damn.
It's scandalous quite frankly.

OSU up 15 with 4 minutes left. ESPN's games that run unopposed keeping up their track record of not being good games.

Landers just summed this game up correctly. He said Kentucky can't score enough points to keep up with OhSt at this pace.
Actually I've been really impressed with Landers in this studio role. He is knowledgeable, prepared, honest and usually right on in his commentary. I think I even prefer him to Lawson in this job.

Nell, he's already used two TO's. Do you want to use a third this close to halftime.
They changed it because at least one ref thought that it hit the rim. I thought that it might have but this angle isn't clear.

This game has looked a lot more lopsided than a 15 point margin would suggest.
OhSt may still live to regret not putting this further out of reach.
That's not to suggest 15 points isn't a big lead, just that watching the game I would think the lead was 20+.
