So I am baffled by these Dr. Pepper commercials that have "Lil' Sweet on a tiny horse!" talking to "two thirsty cowboys". The Lil' Sweet character (who is supposed to be a glam-rocker) and his horse are optically shrunk down to less than 50% of normal and Lil' Sweet has a Prince look and a gay vibe, while the two cowboys he talks to act like genuine ranchers who don't get into town too often.
Anyway, I did a search and it turns out that Lil' Sweet is played by Justin Guarini, the runner-up on the first American Idol back in 2002. And people did see a Prince resemblance and there were some complaints around his death. I don't remember them, but commercials with that character have been running since 2015.

I remember seeing some of the previous commercials. They're all kinda weird.
Never would have recognized Justin Guarini as Lil Sweet.

Yeah, that is one weird-ass campaign.

Yeah. He's got 2 of them on a chain in the first clip in this video.
