My bad I didn't know you were talking only US ones. Cp3 must have been talking about US Oympians when she told espn LA had no Oympians too. |
Parker probably doesn't know who all is on other countries' Olympic teams. |
I don't expect her too but she doesn't know her own teammate is going to Rio?

I don't understand why the wnba schedules night games during the first 3 rounds of the nba playoffs. It makes absolutely no sense. They should be playing nothing but day games for the first month of the season.School being in session is not a good enough answer.Start the games at 4pm or 4:30,but no more night games during the first 3 rounds of the nba playoffs.

I think she was talking about US Olympians. Probably drawing attention to the fact that Phoenix has 2 and Minnesota has 4 while LA has none. But it doesn't matter - if LA doesn't win it all we will still see people blaming Parker in this forum. Just like other years in which they weren't the favorites, and yet it is still somehow claimed that they should have won it all.

That never made sense to me about all that talk about LA having all that talents on their roster to win it all in recent years especially in 2014. Honestly this season team is the best one they had in a while. Blaming one person on a team sport doesn't make sense either. Cp dropped 30pts and 15 rebounds in West final against Minny in 2012 and was the only one to show up in game 3 last playoff. I know Cp is good but she's not that good to beat a team by her self.

What's the NBA network's penetration? Does nobody get it on their system, or is it simply that no one pays any attention to it?
88k for the game between the two undefeated league leaders is pretty depressing.

Home fans usually watch it on a local network.

Plus it was on at any time from 12.30pm to 3.30pm depending on your region in the US. Surely most people were at work. |

The excuses may make people feel better but has there been any NBA TV game over 100,000? Time of day notwithstanding, 88k looks like the highest of the year. Lots of the games are closer to 20-30,000.
As for local broadcasts, I note awhom' s comment "Those who watch their local broadcast are not included (figures are also too small to be meaningful)."

"Very good" relative to what?
Here's some numbers for other sports shows during the same daytime time slot on the same day.
A canned show on "Top 10 Cornerback Tandems" on the NFL Network drew 89,000.
College World Series game between OkSt and Az on ESPNU drew 112,000
The millionth or so rerun of Caddyshack on Golf Channel drew 121,000 viewers.
The Czech Rep vs Turkey soccer game on ESPN2 drew 194,000
The Croatia vs Spain soccer game on ESPN drew 708,000.

Tomorrow's game with LA and Minnesota has been added to NBATV's broadcast.

All of which explains why more WNBA games are not on TV.
It's not some grand conspiracy to keep women's sports down; it's just business.
If women's basketball fans want more TV games, then more of them have to watch the games that are already on TV.

57 million households. There was a regular season NBA game between Golden State and San Antonio that drew 2.6 million viewers in April of this year.
Yes, there are fewer NBA TV households than ESPN, but truly that doesn't explain 88,000.

But the WNBA does poorly on NBA-TV, relatively speaking, and also compared to other premium channels.
That said, it's great that the games are on, and as the quality of play improves -- and that does seem to be happening, and will continue to do so until expansion -- so should ratings, however slowly.

Sorry. Shoddy use of parentheses there. I meant that NBATV games end up with figures that are too small to fairly compare with one another due to the margin of error. That just means that a game that rates at 88,000 viewers may not actually have been watched more than say one at 70,000 viewers whereas a game that rates at 880,000 viewers almost certainly had higher viewership than one rated at 700,000.
Local viewership obviously brings the total up, but those ratings are extremely difficult to get.
That household total for NBATV translates to about 47% of all television households. ESPNU is at about 61% and the two big ESPN channels are at 77% at last count. Keep in mind that channel placement matters since many viewers do not turn on their televisions with a plan on what to watch and just flip through their favorite or lower number channels. That's why the same event will always rate lower on ESPN2 than it would on ESPN even though both channels are in a virtually equal number of households. If more games were moved from ESPN2 to ESPN, that would obviously raise ratings, but games on pretty much any other national network would rate lower.
