Thibault not optimistic Meesseman will play for Mystics in 2022

I'm not probably, particularly optimistic about that. I don't know. But I know her allegiances in the years like this has always been to her national team as they've gotten better," Thibault told reporters after the WNBA Lottery.

The chances of foreign players showing up this year really aren't helped by the scheduling of the season so incredibly tight to the World Cup. Maybe the US can cope - they could probably win it while not picking anyone who makes the second round of the playoffs - but most of the international players WNBA teams would want are stars of their national team. They're going to look at the schedule and see that if their WNBA team does well they'll barely make it to Australia in time for the World Cup. They might even be late if their team is in the Finals and they stay to the very end - they'd certainly get very little preparation time. So if they're from countries who qualify for the Worlds some may just decide it's not worth the hassle. And Belgium's qualifying group includes Puerto Rico, so at this point there's very little chance that Belgium won't qualify.

Twitter's gonna go bonkers if someone makes the Finals and leaves for something they consider more important. Not a huge deal if it's, say, Steph Talbot as someone's backup wing leaving to play for the Opals - but what if it's Jonquel Jones making sure she arrives in time for Bosnia's opener? Yikes.

I'm sort of sad to see only 5 names on the Mystics's roster. I want my SWK back!

Howard Has the better prospect for translating into a W career. Hillmon needs to transform herself into a SF a la Alysha Clark and that's a difficult task.

Or you could see her as the stronger version of Collier, who is supposed to be playing the SF because of her size.

Pheesa can shoot from further away from the basket, and can (somewhat) put the ball on the floor. Those aren't skills Hillmon has shown. She reminds me a bit of someone like Brunson, but there aren't too many Brunson's out there anymore. In current players, she's kinda like Mo Billings. Billings is supposedly taller, but I doubt if it's by much. If she could do what Billings does she could become a nice complementary player, but that's not really what you're looking for in a lottery pick. Now if she could develop her outside shot a bit, that would improve her usefulness.

I think SWK is a great fit for the Mystics.

If EDD is healthy, theyโ€™re a legit title contender. You wonโ€™t find a better defensive backcourt than Cloud, Atkins, and Clark. E Williams is a good complimentary piece to Hines-Allen.

Looks like we'll be picking Howard with how crowded the frontcourt is getting.

Excellent low-risk choice.

So the mystics made a video with EDD finding out in the dressingroom Who signed with them. Who was the video about? Hawkins? Williams?

I'm guessing there will be a follow-up video with whoever she is talking to, since it seems like just one person in the dressing room.

Is it assumed that Gustafson's contract is 1-year non-guaranteed? AKA a training camp spot and nothing more at this point?

That would make sense. Another guard who can't shoot for DC .
