Onyenwere's been slumping since her 29-point outburst against Atlanta. In the six games following that, she's been averaging 6.7 PPG on 30% FG (28% 3PT), and she already wasn't rebounding the ball much (less than 3 per game on the season). Still, she's the only rookie getting consistent minutes...

If they go by MP Gondrezick makes all rookie. I'm thinking they bend the rules so that Sabrina gets in. They could call it the "Rising Star" team - rookies and sophomores....

People who make the All-Rookie team get $1,500. I really don't think they'll be changing the definition of what counts at this stage. Plenty of completely ordinary rookies have made it in previous years (including several who were out of the league a couple of years later). Five-best X continues to mean five-best X however bad that top-five is.

Flashback to when Stephanie Watts was averaging 10+min/game with Chicago

She's still 9th in total minutes played among rookies. Probably still got a chance to be All-Rookie if she can get someone to give her another shot.

Right now it has to be Onyenwere because she is the only one getting significant minutes and isn't playing badly. But we are gonna have seasons like this. Yes, this year's rookie class isn't the strongest, but also, this is still a VERY veteran heavy league. Without expansion or retirement, it is going to be very difficult for rookies to make their mark unless they are exceptional.

McDonald should see an uptick in minutes with Hayes out, so maybe we'll have a race after all.

Onyenwere has lost her mojo. Not only are the numbers down, but Michaela looks like she is thinking too much and making bad decisions. If McDonald can generate any kind of a push, she could surpass Onyenwere as the latter drops. Of course, Michaela could have a couple of good games and quickly right the ship. Such are the emotional ups and downs of a young player.

Also presumably Chennedy Carter's expected back at some point (there was already video of her shooting). That would swallow most of those potentially newly-available minutes.

And Onyenwere should see a downtick in minutes once Ionescu returns to starter minutes.
