PostPosted: 06/01/21 4:49 pm    ::: Old Player, Young Coach Trivia Time! Reply Reply with quote

When Sue Bird and Candice Dupree take the floor tonight for head coach Noelle Quinn, it will mark the first time since 2007 we've had a player older than her coach in the league. It will also be the first time two teammates are both older than their coach. That suggests four very easy trivia questions...

1 Who is the only coach before Quinn to coach two different players older than them?

HINT: It was also in two separate years for two separate teams

2 Who is the only player to play for two different coaches younger than them?

HINT: Again, it was two separate years for two separate teams

3 What's the only older player/younger coach combination that happened for multiple seasons?

4 Bird's not just older than Quinn, she's four and a half years older. That's the second biggest gap ever. What older player/younger coach combo has the greatest difference in age?

We're only counting Karleen Thompson, as by all accounts she was the one in charge

Correct!

Nancy Lieberman played for Cheryl Miller in 1997 despite being 5 1/2 years older than the coach

It's hard to do trivia about old players without Lieberman coming up

I definitely forgot that Dee Brown got two chances as a head coach.

I was also today years old when I learned that Lexie is his daughter.

Had Utah on the brain because I was sure Denise Taylor would be one of the coaches who had a player older than her.

Taylor is a 2000 graduate of Michigan where he earned a bachelor of arts honors degree in sport management and communications.

I mean, unless that's a different Darius Taylor and Atlanta managed to fuck up their own game notes, which reference his coaching career starting at Temple.
