This looks like a fun line up for the 3PC. Looking forward to it.

Have they announced a separate line-up for the skills challenge, or are they going to combine both events and use the same players? Or are the players going to find out they’ve been selected at 1:30 that afternoon?

As far as I can tell the league has decided that we do not need to know yet

The League... Rolling Eyes

Guess Allie is going for one last hurrah since she said last year she was retiring from the competition. I hope her shooting makes it worth the while; she is still struggling to find her shot...

I believe Jackie Young is in the Skills Comp, so that implies a different set of players. It also explains why the WNBA's 3rd best three point shooter by percentage isn't in the 3 point event even though she's at the ASG.

It looks like the WNBA wanted to save on travel expenses and only took all-stars and a Chicago player.

Granted, it's a tiny sample size. But Katie Benzan shot 71.4% from three in her time with the Mystics.

To be fair, shooting 3s in a 3-point contest is not the same as shooting in-game. It's a fun competition. Where they rank on the season in-game isn't too important to me.

They're not going to put someone in the contest who isn't currently in the league.

Obviously.. point of the post was to imply that I wish she were so she could participate.

I assumed that they talked Quigley into competing for the benefit of hometown fans. But I forgot it won't be in front of hometown fans.

Quote:
The event will take place Saturday, July 9 at 2 p.m. CT in front of an audience of competitors from the Nike Tournament of Champions and Nike Girls Nationals.

We can watch but not in the building. At least the weather will be nice for the watch party at the festival outside the venue. VIP season ticket holders were invited to a more upscale indoor watch party near the venue. Glad I have a friend in that category who invited me! Very Happy

Skills Challenge Contestants:

Quote:
The Skills Challenge includes eight teams, each consisting of one WNBA player and one athlete from the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) participating in the 2022 Nike Nationals. The teams will compete head-to-head in an obstacle course relay competition that tests dribbling, passing, agility and shooting skills.

Tennis just started the 5th set on ESPN.

Looks like it got moved to ESPNU.

I think it's kind of strange to have a skills challenge with a partner. What if your partner sucks?

Yeah, I don't like this.

It's a test of leadership. Can you make your teammate better?

No, they have a high school player as a teammate. The high schooler does a dribble weave, make a pass into a target, then come back and make a layup. They give the ball to the WNBA player who does the same thing, but then has to dribble back down court and make a three.
