FYI, the closest franchise to Rhyne Howard's listed hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee is Atlanta. Surprised The town is approximately a two-hour drive away from College Park, GA, where the Dream play. (Y'all already know I'm in the process of updating this.) So Atlanta may be a very ideal landing spot for her.
Meanwhile, I'm still over here hoping Charli Collier gets dealt away from Dallas ASAP lmfao.

The closest WNBA franchise to Shakira Austin's hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia is the Washington Mystics. Fredericksburg, VA. is approximately a 53 mile drive to Washington, DC where the Mystics play. A side note, Shakira Austin and Mystics Veteran Tianna Hawkins attended and played basketball at Riverdale Baptist High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Also, Fredericksburg, Virginia is where the Major League Baseball team Washington Nationals Minor League Low A Baseball team is located.

The closet WNBA franchise to Jasmine Dickey's hometown of Baltimore, Maryland is the Washington Mystics. Baltimore, Maryland is approximately a 39 mile drive to Washington, DC where the Mystics play. A side note, Jasmine Dickey and Mystics Veteran Elena Delle Donne attended and played basketball at the University of Delaware. I wonder will Jasmine Dickey be the 14th selection of the 2022 WNBA Draft.

That list is college-only and came from NBC Sports. Maybe it’s not as official as I thought. Not sure why they would produce one that’s not official.

Delicia Washington is a key lower round pick I’ve been keeping an eye on. She’s not on NBC Sports’ list. But I searched but couldn’t find anything about her entering the draft.

This was already discussed somewhere on the board. Washington played five seasons of at least 25 games, so this last one was probably her Covid year. If so, then Delicia is out of eligibility and doesn't need to declare. Now, whether she knows this or not is another matter. Richyyy and awhom111 suggested that a few players who didn't need to declare did so anyway. Regardless, it appears Washington is eligible to be drafted whether she is interested or not.

I assume Jordao is returning to Iowa State for her COVID year. It was noted in the press release when she signed last May that she had two seasons of eligibility remaining, and I haven't seen any indication that she won't do both seasons. She did not participate in senior day activities.

It doesn't really matter, as she wouldn't be a candidate to be drafted this year anyway. She was very solid for Iowa state, but averaging 6 points/4 rebounds in 15 minutes per game are not really stats that garner WNBA attention.

That’s why I kept Washington and other players like that on my list who didn’t actually submit her name to the League, for the very reason that she was assuredly out of college eligibility and thus eligible to get drafted – whether she likes it or not! Wink

Question: What is the honest difference between Jasmine Dickey and Delicia Washington? They profile very similarly to me as true scoring guards who can rebound well and sorta shoot from the outside (but that isn’t really their game). I would take Washington, since she’s the Power-5 prospect between the two, and is the better passer – if not a little more positionally versatile if she has actual PG experience.

You wouldn't think so, but W GMs pull some bizarro stuff when the third round arrives.

In any event, there's been no official announcement about Jordao returning to school so I'm keeping her on the list.

I am now actively cheering for players who did not submit their names unnecessarily, because I actually took a look at the whole list of 108 today and wanted to give up around halfway through. I really hope that the WNBA does some vetting next year. They can put the unnecessary declarers on their own list if they want.

From what I can tell, only 31 of the 108 actually needed to declare. I am not an expert on NCAA eligibility though so I was wondering if anyone could confirm a few people. It looks like Chantel Horvat qualifies for a medical redshirt for 18-19 so I think that she did need to declare. Ameshya Williams-Holiday would not qualify for any kind of extra year right? She was a freshman in 16-17 and then just left school early in 17-18 and also did not play in 18-19 before playing 19-20, 20-21, and then 21-22. It looks like Arbrie Benson went undrafted in 2020, but I am also wondering if she could have qualified for any extra year. She played for DII Northwest Missouri State in 15-16 and 16-17 and then played again in 19-20 for Ball State.

The trade from Washington to Atlanta is not so much about this year's Draft candidates, i.e., Howard, Smith, Austin. It's about getting a shot at BOSTON.

The name of the game now in the WNBA is to get BOSTON. It's the same scenario for each and every WNBA team. It's no different than when Griner became eligible.

BOSTON IS THE DOMINANT FRANCHISE PLAYER who will make your team a top contender for well over a decade. The top three choices this year will not bring with them this guarantee.

Everything from now on in the WNBA will be about "How can I get BOSTON!

It's BOSTON, BOSTON, BOSTON, BOSTON, BOSTON!

BOSTON!

I was wondering if anyone could confirm Seton Hall's Sidney Cooks and Andra Espinoza-Hunter. Both have separately had multiple transfer stops, both participated in Seton Hall's Senior Day (I think), but neither appear on the W's 108-player declaree list. I think Cooks could've come back (and maybe she is), but I have no idea if Espinoza-Hunter was able to get a redshirt for her first year at UConn since she only played in 7 games but left midseason. Maybe Queenie knows more.

Chantel Horvat's probably emotionally ready to be a pro, but her numbers just aren't anywhere near good enough to get her drafted, so I was a little surprised to see her declare. You're right, she could've stayed the extra year, since she did take a redshirt before the extra covid year.

Ameshya Williams-Holiday certainly clears things up with her simply submitting her name, but I was thinking the same thing that she would not be able to return. This article says she announced she would return for one final season at Jackson State after last year's covid year anyway. She was a freshman the same time Grandma (Ali) Patberg was – although, Williams-Holiday does actually have a kid to her name, which she almost quit basketball in spite of. I'm really amazed by her story and hope there's a pro career out there for her; she was a machine this past year for Jackson State.

Why Mali's Sika Kone is skyrocketing up draft boards

Quote:
If the projections are correct, Kone would become the fifth Malian woman to be drafted by a WNBA team.

Quote:
Their youngest daughter would get to study in a British school in Spain and play basketball -- all for free. That was a big deal to her parents, who had six kids to worry about.

Quote:
She had watched hours of tape of WNBA legend Candace Parker and spent hours replicating Parker's moves on the court.

Parker’s most recognizable on court move

Quote:
She began following the WNBA, paying attention to the English commentary in addition to the athletes. She was only 15, but a new dream began to take shape.

Quote:
In 2021, at the U19 World Cup in Hungary, where Mali finished fourth, Kone joined Americans Caitlin Clark and Sonia Citron on the all-tournament team after leading all players in scoring (19.7 PPG) and rebounding (14.Cool.

Quote:
Kone, who speaks Spanish, French, Bambara and English

Quote:
In February 2022, Kone injured her right meniscus during a game in Spain. Initially the diagnosis was grim -- doctors predicted she would be sidelined for more than four months. But on March 14, Kone underwent an arthroscopy, a simpler operation than what was previously anticipated. She was expected to make a comeback in four weeks.

No draft and stash.

Quote:
Kone's mother died three weeks ago.

Quote:
On Monday night, Kone, back in Spain, will settle in front of her TV and watch. And wait for her name to be called. Her mom won't be there physically, but Kone can still feel her presence. Her mom allowed her to be who she is today.

"I hope she is watching from heaven," Kone says. "I hope she is proud of me."

I found this about a year old picture of her next to Chelsea Gray.

For what it's worth, Andra participated in Senior Day festivities at Seton Hall, while Sid did not. It's possible Andra didn't have to declare.

(It's also possible Andra looked at her stats this year and said, "...this is probably not gonna happen")

I think I put everyone in the right bucket for draft declaration status:
http://www.womensbasketball247.com/2022/04/breakdown-of-2022-wnba-draft-entry-list/

As mentioned, it got rather annoying after a while so I could have made a few mistakes by the end. I will break it into multiple sittings instead of trying to do it all at once if the WNBA makes no changes next season.

So you took that list of 108 and separated them by declaration and no-declaration? I mean, it is interesting. The declaration group is the higher quality one, although I’m a big fan of Cubaj and Pointer.

I think Cooks could've come back (and maybe she is), but I have no idea if Espinoza-Hunter was able to get a redshirt for her first year at UConn since she only played in 7 games but left midseason. Maybe Queenie knows more.

For what it's worth, Andra participated in Senior Day festivities at Seton Hall, while Sid did not. It's possible Andra didn't have to declare.

(It's also possible Andra looked at her stats this year and said, "...this is probably not gonna happen")

Thank you for the clarification! Welp, I decided to update the chart at the top of this page anyway to add AEH. I was inexplicably missing Mununga from South Florida, too, and even though she may not be eligible due to potential previous eligibility in a Draft, let's be honest – there's still an outside chance she'll at least get picked, even if the pick is voided later on.

I think my goal (this year? Or maybe every year?) is for every non-international pick to be somewhere on my lists. And yet, as pilight knows, there's bound to be somebody that comes outta nowhere...

I didn’t realize until today that Lin Dunn has the title of “Interim GM”, so like an emergency GM because Catchings bailed? I guess Lin could be one-and-done Dunn.

Can anyone tell me any details about a pro camp for women that was held late last month? The name of the camp is Driven Elite Pro Day. Thanks 🙏.
