Color me shocked at the 1st quarter score. I think UConn will adjust though and Bueckers will take over. The first time you get the AZ defense is tough.

Or Aari McDonald might take over.

Arizona's defense has UConn flustered. Of course if ONO could have made a layup things would be better.

I actually think AZ is better with Reese on the bench. But maybe not with Baptiste already there...

Ododa and Edwards rushing shots around the basket. Seems unnecessary.

As with every UConn loss, I'm wondering: Where's the leadership? Where's the coaching? What are we trying to do on offense? Why does everyone look so tentative?

Quoting myself from the Baylor game, because it continues to be all too relevant.

ONO is so weak and soft and poor touch.

If AZ had a decent post, they would be pretty awesome.

Arizona is playing their game plan perfectly. Just can’t let Connecticut go on a big scoring run.

Very ugly half for UConn. AZ is playing good defense, but some seriously ugly decision making and poor touch around the rim.

UConn richly deserves to lose, playing offense and defense as they have. Stanford crushed Arizona twice. UConn can't even set a simple screen for Bueckers, run a pick and roll, or pass into posts who tower over their defenders.

How about posting up Bueckers against McDonald, as another example.

Edwards is a high% shooter. ONO is cursed with "hoping she won't miss", a personal version of the team curse of "trying not to lose".

It's not close to over. It's only 10 points. If Williams keeps playing well and Bueckers joins her, anything can happen.

It will never happen, but if ONO transferred to a different program and used her last two years of potential eligibility there (senior year plus an extra one due to COVID), I could see her blossoming.

Ododa is a high percentage shooter as well (57% on the year). Problem is that the 3 most efficient players on UConn (Bueckers, Edwards and Ododa) are a combined 2-12 so far.

I've always said her % would go up if she used a bit more discretion on when and where to take those shots...and I think she has gotten better. But she is pretty awesome.

This. I don't understand why weren't not attacking their pressure. Arizona is dictating everything, which is rarely a recipe for a win.

Those shots have been going on throughout this Tournament. I don’t recall them going in like this during the regular season. In any case, by all means, Aari-zona, continue. Very Happy

I wonder if UConn didn't analyze those games Stanford won against them. AZ is definitely not invincible.
