This game should be a walk through the park for UCONN.

Small guards who can fill it up, drive, shoot the 3, and create their own shot have been an achilles heel for UCONN's defense for YEARS.

McDonald checks every box. She's going to be tough for us to guard. I hope she misses more than she makes.
On the other side of the ball, I don't think Arizona will be able to handle Edwards on the block. I just hope she doesn't play like a freshman, which is probably going to happen...since she is one.

Not to mention it's the Semis, aka Geno's achilles heel.

i HATE having the 2nd game.
That said, this has been the best tournament, tipoff-time wise, I can remember as a UConn fan.

How do they determine the order of the games, by the way? |

Well, I learned this the other day in regards to Syracuse men playing in the 9:55 game in the S16. Apparently that time slot is the biggest money maker in terms of ad revenue. Syracuse, of all the teams that played that day, was the most name program nationally, so they got slotted there, knowing that so many eyes would watch that game because Syracuse was in it. I was told it was a high honor that Syracuse was the team picked to be in that time slot.
I think on a Friday night it'd be the same. UCONN has a pretty good lead in first place on being known nationally and to the casual viewer. I think putting in that time slot will make the most ad revenue.
Someone more knowledgeable than me could probably answer that better.

Anyone else get the sense that if someone doesn't stop UConn this weekend, it's going to be awfully hard to do so with Paige and Azzi in future years (cough cough, 4-peat).

I hope Arizona doesn't try to do their press too much if it doesn't yield early results, or at least really picks & chooses their moments for it carefully. UConn is one of the few teams that seem to thrive being pressed against.

Nah! I think two back to back #1 classes will have something to say about that

Caroline Ducharme beat Azzi Fudd in the recent AmFam 3pt shooting contest, which will be televised on CBS this Sunday at 1:30 EDT. Now, who did Ducharme sign with . . . .

If Nika doesn't play, it's actually a good idea to do so.
Yes, Paige will initially thrive when pressed, and they are a great transition team. However, without Nika - we have two ball handlers.
If a team does that to Uconn the whole game, it'll tire both Paige and Evina out. (Evina was clearly tired against Baylor).
Fun fact, Geno used to make the 2002 Uconn team practice breaking presses against 8 male practice players because that team really only had two ball handlers (Bird and Taurasi), and he thought that if a team was going to beat team, it would be because of the limited depth there, and Bird and Taurasi got tired out.
Of course, no team tried it, because what coach would think "Yes, let's press Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi. That'll work out well for us."

It's going to be tough in any case for the next few years. To any player currently enrolled - Get em now or forget it for your college career.
But that assumes nothing unforeseen happens, which is a bad assumption to make.

Kind of curious if there are actually 4 people here that think AZ is winning or if it's just wishful thinking. Obviously anything can happen, but I wouldn't guess anyone would take AZ while putting anything on the line.
