I already don’t want to hear about the “unfinished business all gas no brake” motto of the Maryland team next year :/

Who would have thought that the B1G's entry into the elite 8 would be Indiana?

That Lambert layup may have been the first and only fast break points for Texas?

I love this win by Vic and his team, and everything it represents vis a vie offense v defense.

Wow... and now we get another Schaefer vs Staley matchup, which Staley always seemed to win. Better result this time for Vic Schaefer?

Agree. Diamond Miller clearly has speed, but otherwise it's more their versatility than speed that had made them so deadly in transition all season.

Texas wins 64-61! A most improbable outcome??

And once again, it's Dawn Staley versus Vic Schaefer!! Does Vic have the answer this time???

That was the official motto for the Will Muschamp South Carolina football program. Take it from me: that motto doesn't work too well.....

Great game plan, Vic. And I confess to pleasant surprise that the players executed it as well as they did.

I'm puzzled as to why more B10 teams couldn't beat Maryland. Only Diamond impressed me as maybe an AA potential.

Couldn't have come at a better time! Multiple uncharacteristically reckless/lazy passes from Owusu in the last few minutes of this game.

Maybe now all the Aston defenders understand what we were talking about.

I'm not at all surprised by IU making it but I am surprised by Maryland not making it. (I'm more surprised that only 1 SEC team made it.)

and once she had lost the ball, Owusu made close to zero effort to get down the floor to defend. Actually I noticed Texas guards attacked her all game, and usually easily got around her.

Is Texas' bench depleted?? Vic only played one reserve, who scored all of 1 point in the game. Are they short on players??

You are probably right. But in the history of sports it is always interesting to see what a team that has a great offense does against a team with a great defense. I'm not saying that Texas has a great defense, but Maryland will encounter a team with a good defense real soon.

And that’s exactly why we play the games!! Very Happy

Simply not good enough defense, I guess? Also this has to have been one of the worst shooting nights of the season for Maryland.

In a Texas game thread during the middle of the season (perhaps against Baylor?), I wondered if it was too early to judge Schaefer's hire/performance.

I'll take my crow medium rare, please.

Vic ran circles around Brenda. Maryland was so discombobulated toward the end.

or only one ACC team! I would never have bet that the B12 would have two instead of either the ACC or the SEC!

I am, very much so. They have nothing of note, imo. I watched them several times before the tournament and asked how in the world is this a top 10 team.

They remind me a lot of the way Texas played tonight. Great defense and rebounding, good at controlling each possession and eliminating turnovers, they'll push when the fastbreak is there but won't force it. Just enough offensive steadiness from Grace Berger and Mackenzie Holmes. Nothing will wow you though.

Yep. Maryland was clearly uncomfortable having to rely so much on their half court offense and had zero experience this year playing a slow-paced, close game. Usually they just win in the first quarter and coast to the end.
