I was looking forward to seeing Mulkey play, but she hasn't shown too much so far. But everyone else for Rice has been running the Hens into the ground, scoring on multiple unopposed fast breaks. At one point the Owls were shooting over 60%, even though Mulkey was 0-1.

For this tournament only, since Ohio was in the WNIT. You have to pay a one month subscription of around $30.00.

Every Rice player is shooting over 50%, except for one - Nancy Mulkey. Rice up 20+ midway through the third.

Hens have cut it to 7, but there's less than a minute to play. Jasmine Dickey is an impressive player for Delaware.

Final Rice 85, Delaware 75. Mulkey had zero points.

Odd....was there any particular defensive strategy implemented to keep her scoreless??

Mulkey only took 3 shots, and didn't get to the line either. But I didn't think Delaware was doing anything special defensively against her. She almost always starts at a high post in Rice's half-court offense, and the Hens had a big, 6'2" Lizzie Oleary, playing behind her. No exotic zones or double teams.
I think a lot of what stopped her was the pace of the game. Delaware was crashing the boards so hard that they had no one getting back on defense, and Rice was burning them with fast breaks or shots before the Hens could get set defensively. Mulkey is a slow runner, and her teammates were frequently scoring before she could get involved. Her teammates' efficiency was keeping her from getting involved in the offense.
The game slowed down after Rice built a 22 point lead midway through the second half. I expected Mulkey to get more involved in the offense, but she never really did. I haven't seen her much, but in past games she was rolling to the basket from the high post, and her teammates were pretty good at passing to her in positions where she could score. But last night she was moving back and forth across the lane from elbow to elbow, not looking to score. Maybe just conserving energy for the championship game.

Fairly typical Mulkey. She’s never been coached properly for a woman of her height and I predict will not ever make it as a pro. She has no muscle, can’t move her feet, and has no court awareness to speak of.
