Lots of great candidates this season! Who is your pick for best First Year Head Coach?

Denise Dillon - Villanova - 9-5 Big East (5th)
Kyra Elzy - Kentucky - 9-6 SEC (tied for 5th)
Lindy LaRoqcue - UNLV - 13-5 in MW (3rd)
*LaRoqcue inherited a program that went 9-9 last season and lost 7/9 rotation players, including their top 4 scorers. 4 starters are new to the program, including 2 true freshmen.
Niele Ivey - Notre Dame - 8-7 ACC (6th)
Brooke Wyckoff - Florida State - 9-7 ACC (tied for 4th)

My vote was for Lindy LaRocque. She inherited a completely busted program where most of the players had either bailed or graduated, and has already built it into a contender. She had good training. Smile

(I wanted to vote for Kyra Elzy, but she needs another year.)

Denise Dillon is in her first year at Villanova, but this is not her first year as a D-I head coach.

Do you think Lawson will get a Covid exemption and be eligible next year? If not, I think she should get it this year.

Oh my B. For some reason I thought she was a long time Perretta assistant.

Well, she definitely shouldn't win it this year with that 4 game season, but I would hope she is eligible next year.

LaRocque would absolutely be deserving and I think will probably win, but I somewhat arbitrarily voted for Wyckoff based on the fact that they outperformed my preseason expectations of them moreso than any other P5 team accept for maybe WSU. I had them in the bottom third of the ACC based on what they lost. Confused But Wyckoff proved to be more than capable at the helm in place of Sue Semrau. If Semrau comes back long-term I can't see a talent like this staying on in an Assistant role.

I'm going to vote for Kyra Elzy. She stepped into a difficult situation, being elevated from AC to interim HC when Matthew Mitchell was unexpectedly forced to step down due to a serious medical issue.

I voted for Brooke Wyckoff. The only issue is whether her status as an interim coach will work against her.

Plug for Denise Dillon in light of Villanova's win over Depaul today.

This is Denise Dillon's 18th season as a head coach, not her first.

I voted for Elzy in a squeaker over Wykoff because the SEC is overall stronger than the top heavy ACC and Elzy dresses very stylishly.
