her program is loosing $6,000,000 annually

Can you or anyone please show me where that is confirmed? Is that figuring in salaries? If so, I have a feeling there are a lot of programs "losing" a boatload of money. If not, please show me how a program is spending and "losing" that much money. In order to lose that much money, they would have to be spending their annual budget (which I would assume is at least a few million) PLUS another $6M! I have been at a school where we chartered a few recruiting trips for the head coach in addition to team travel (esp within conference) and we wouldn't have come even close to spending $10,000,000 or more. I would also say that the WBB program wasn't paying for any of their practice gear, uniforms, shoes, etc as that would be part of the athletic department deal with Nike so that wouldn't be line item.

Lastly, where is the AD and/or the budget office personnel? They control and have to approve many big ticket expenses, including scheduling of road games and home guarantee games.

I dunno. One of the ways I thought Kim had grown was to demonstrate genuine (?) humility to frame all of her success. I liked that about her. Reminds me of Tara, The Class Act.

And even Tara has done things in terms of making demands. For example, in 2007, she met and spoke with Duke about its vacancy to use as a leverage/bargaining tool with her negotiations with Stanford, even though, from all accounts, she was never going to leave Stanford.

And I'd commend that....strong gals, leveraging their status for their benefit. But I'm still certain Tara did it with....CLASS! Wink Cool

There is no I in TEAM...her program is loosing $6,000,000 annually...when your program makes money then make demands!

It's all about the money in education/athletics and what a program can bring to the OVER-ALL athletic department...not just her slim piece of the pie. I think she had an over inflated ego and thought she was running the department...she ran into several someones who let her know she was not in charge.

Not sure the facility was the issue... it was her going out ahead of the AD to express her disagreement in public of where to build it (chain of command), as well as a life time contract, and finally having her name put on the practice court.

NO means no, and some people have a hard time with hearing that word! Ask any teacher or coach who deals with parents and athletes/students in todays world of education and sports.

Kim built Baylor athletics PERIOD!!!

I think they will be just fine without a powerhouse womens basketball program tbh.

I am so curious what you can share about Tara and Duke. Was she actually interested? Did Duke even have interest at that time?

Wow. Looking forward to seeing who KBA brings in. I haven't heard one word on who any potential candidates might be.
