I haven't seen nearly enough of his work that I probably should have but I still think the way he played Mike Wallace in The Insider was fantastic. And I loved him as Chang in Star Trek IV: The Undiscovered Country too.

Leon Spinks was still alive. Okay.
It’s weird when you almost semi-distinctly remember someone dying and then find out that you actually didn't._________________ Every woman who has ever been presented with a career/sex quid pro quo in the entertainment industry should come forward and simply say, “Me, too.” - jammer The New York Times 10/10/17 |

He was in tons of movies and television shows. I recently watched him in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. IMDB says he was currently doing the voice for some movie.

Greetings. I'm going to watch Undiscovered Country this evening instead of the Super Bore._________________ If you cannot inspire yourself to read a book about women's basketball, or any book about women's sports, you cannot inspire any young girl or boy to write a book about them. http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Richardstrek |

Boxing is not at all like basketball or team sports. Highly regarded fighters don’t lose fights early in their careers. Unless well into your career and a champion losing (rarely) to other champions losing at all isn’t really synonymous with having a great career. Any loss on your record is considered a “mark.” So yeah, an Olympic gold medalist losing a fight just a handful of matches into his career is a big deal._________________ Every woman who has ever been presented with a career/sex quid pro quo in the entertainment industry should come forward and simply say, “Me, too.” - jammer The New York Times 10/10/17 |

Spinks didn't lose until the second Ali fight. He was 6-0-1 in his first seven. Howee is right on this one, Spinks looked great against the nobodies he started with and should have won the LeDoux fight (the one he drew) but got a bad decision against a much bigger and more experienced opponent. |
So, okay. But here’s the thing. LeDoux was a bum. And Ali, I have contended for years and has been asserted by people close to him, was already quite visibly suffering from Parkinson’s or traumatic brain injury when he defeated Leon Spinks. So there.
Watch that fight. It’s a textbook on boxing and defensive boxing especially by Ali. But look at Ali in his corner and as he walks to the center of the ring. Look at his posture especially as regarding how he holds his head. And most telling of all look at the unchanging very familiar facial expression of someone with diminishing faculties. And he was almost 40 years old. And yet, he defeated a ‘spectacular’ heavyweight champion of the world? No.
Spinks was a spectacularly unorthodox and awkward brawler. He was almost easy pickings for even an old and very ill but once truly spectacular fighter._________________ Every woman who has ever been presented with a career/sex quid pro quo in the entertainment industry should come forward and simply say, “Me, too.” - jammer The New York Times 10/10/17 |
