As I've mentioned here before, every February for Black History Month I read a book by a black author. This year it's "Everywhere You Don't Belong" by Gabriel Bump

I'm trying to read more classics, so I recently started "Cranford" by Elizabeth Gaskill. I am about a third of the way through it, and I am finding it just delightful.

I've been reading a lot of Formula One books recently, probably because of the existence of Spa and Nurburgring on Forza Motorsport 7. I've been through both of Professor Sid Watkins' books, which are really interesting about the safety advances he's helped with in the series.

I'm in the midst of Jackie Stewart's book, "Winning is not Enough." His story about being dyslexic is similar to how public school systems worked in my neck of the woods growing up. Teachers didn't know (some didn't care) about learning disabilities and there was a lot of shaming whenever anything out of the ordinary went on. I'm glad people are figuring out how to be good and helpful humans nowadays.

This week I found out that quotes from two reviews I wrote for Mystery Scene magazine were used on the books.

On the back cover of the Robyn Gigl thriller BY WAY OF SORROW and on the inside of the paperback edition of Matthew Quirk's HOUR OF THE ASSASSIN.

I finished reading an advance copy of the Maddie Day's upcoming Country Store Mystery NO GRATER CRIME. It's not due out August but you can read what I had to say about it via this Goodreads.com link.

The author used a pull quote from my review in an online promotion piece for the book. And in her latest newsletter mentioned how much she liked my review and provided a link to it.

I would love to post more often as to what I'm reading, but rebkell's on my old laptop loads like molasses. My phone loads faster, but I don't really enjoy typing with it. As for my new laptop, I don't use it often because it's got the new windows on it with S Mode. I'm still debating on whether or not to get rid of the mode.

Every year in June, I celebrate Pride by reading only queer stories by queer authors. Here is what I read this year:

*** "How We Fight For Our Lives" by Saeed Jones
"The Dime" by Kathleen Kent
"Crime Wave" by Adam Carpenter
"Insomniac City: New York, Oliver, and Me" by Bill Hayes
*** "A Beautiful Crime" by Christopher Bollen
"Death in the Headlights" by Mark McNease
*** "Save Yourself" by Cameron Esposito
"Lust and Wonder" by Augusten Burroughs
*** "Lies with Man" by Michael Nava
"Check, Please! Year One and Year Two" by Ngozi Ukazu

I recommend all of them to different extents, but especially the ones by Jones, Bollen, Esposito, and Nava (marked with *).
