Impossible to answer without knowing--assuming Paris Kea is on the 12-player roster--who else will be. And I believe we're all murky on how Kolb and Hopkins plan to approach the 2021 season.

In my view, Paris played well enough to genuinely be under consideration as a backup guard for the Liberty. The problem is numbers. I see Ionescu, Durr, and Clarendon as being on the roster. I'm iffy about Jones, but others here are more positive. Would Jones be playing some at guard? What if Johannes returns? Paris is no lock to make the team.

Basically, I agree with what Bob said. My official position is that I don't think Kea will make the team. I'd just like to see her get a chance somewhere. In college, Paris displayed an ability to raise her game when the pressure was on. Those types of players seem to have a higher probability of success at the next level.

Her best chances of making the Liberty are:

1) as a combo guard filling the 5th backcourt spot
2) as the backup PG to Clarendon if Ionescu starts at SG (which is how NY began the 2020 season)
3) as the backup PG to Ionescu if Clarendon is traded

Kea's best chance to be on anyone's roster is to go to Europe and have a 2.0 A/TO.

And yet, as we just saw with the All-WNBA teams, what gets you noticed is scoring loads of points. That's probably what gets you paid more in Europe, too.

I agree with the previous sentiments that Kea's unlikely to make the roster. A third-string point guard is an easy thing to cut when you've got a roster crunch. She probably needs a bunch of people to be injured or not show up again. Could easily latch on somewhere else or be one of those players that teams call midseason when they need somebody, though.

I view Kea as being similar to Erica Wheeler, only bigger and less manic. Yes, Paris will probably bounce around and need some luck. As for also needing a 2.0 ATO? Wheeler has done it once in 5 seasons.

Already gone:
Megan Walker

Safe:
Sabrina Ionescu
Jazmine Jones

On a training camp contract (unlikely to make it):
Joyner Holmes

The rest:
Leaonna Odom
Kylee Shook
Jocelyn Willoughby (torn achilles – out for the year Sad [get well soon!!])

Given the team's current situation with its players (as laid out on this page), how do you see this playing out?

I think Shook is likely to stay unless some post player is waived that Kolb and Hopkins like better. The only other post players on the roster would be Howard and Stokes.

I'm not sure about the rest, but my gut feeling is that Willoughby will make the team.
