A returning Maya would be worth a lot. That's not gonna happen, though. |
Your calls haven’t been good lately. It wouldn’t make sense to make her a part of the negotiations if she wasn’t returning. Is there PR value in having her retire as a member of the Dream even if she never plays a game for them? 🤔 |
Part of what negotiations? For this make believe trade y'all are discussing?

Yes, it’s a proposed trade we’re talking about. Somebody proposed a ridiculous Herschel Walker type trade without Herschel Walker even being included. Read back a bit.

At least Reeve realized she fucked up the 6th pick last draft and got some
decent value out of it.
2022 Mercury pick should be around 7-8 in a strong draft, I like it.

If the Mercury implode -- and that's not out of the realm of possibility -- Reeve may have gotten a lottery pick in a good draft.

Yep, I like both of the trades for future draft picks.
Now, what does Reeve do with that guaranteed contract she supposedly needs to trade to add Powers? I’m not feeling good about moving Sims, but how about Sims for #6? Maybe one the Top 3 posts will fall to #6.
Powers isn’t locked up for Minnesota so maybe she’ll end up in Seattle or somewhere else. I actually prefer Powers over McBride, but that’s not how the dominoes fell.

Even if we waive Tuck?

Playing around with the numbers, if Bird signed for the max and not the supermax, while adding Samuelson’s and Herbert-Harrigan’s salaries, and waiving Tuck they could have $162,235 which could be enough to offer Powers. Powers is an enigma to me so I’m not sure how much she cares about the money or not, and she did mess around with Washington.
That’s also assuming Talbot doesn’t show up._________________

Reeve back to her old self, picking up training camp players nobody else would want.
Looking at Harper’s overseas stats
47 2P%, 30 3P%, 57 FT%, 4.1:2.6 ATO

You're probably right, but I've always really liked Harper. She's such an unusual player and considering her height, very effective.

She has been out for quite a while. It is not easy to come right back after such a hiatus. It would only be worthwhile if she intended on a multiple season comeback. It would take at least a season to get back to er previous level and hat does not even consider being in basketball shape.

Sources have informed @winsidr that the Minnesota Lynx have traded Odyssey Sims, the rights to Temi Fagbenle, their 2022 1st round & 2022 3rd round picks to the Indiana Fever in exchange for Indiana’s 2022 second round pick. |

I guess this proves Indiana is the worst team in the WNBA this year. Reeve must have been afraid if she sent her anywhere else it might come back to haunt her.

Catchings just raked Reeve over the coals. I guess we shouldn’t call her a bad GM anymore.

I wouldn't call it a raking. It's pretty standard for what you need to give up for a team to eat a contract. Sims was immediately released by Indy, but they still need to pay her and that contract will count towards their cap and take up a guaranteed spot.

Also, it looks bad to give up a first, and obviously it somewhat removes the safety net if 2021 goes badly, but if the season goes largely as expected there may well not be many spots between that Lynx first-rounder and the Fever second-rounder that came back the other way. |
