so... Miami just managed to beat NCA&T by one point. NCA&T had two chances in the last seconds to win. Shocked

Liberty came up to JMU today and thought they were going to do something. They got off to a fast start but the Dukes figured them out quickly enough and by the second quarter built a lead they would never relinquish. The final score was 76-53. Jackie Benitez led JMU with 18 points. Two takeaways....Liberty plays DIRTY (we were sitting two rows off the floor and could see *everything*), and the head ref appeared not to have read the rulebook and did not seem to know what a flagrant foul was when one was committed right in front of his face. I hope we don't see THAT ref again.....and I'm sure the ACC, with whom we have to share him, says the same thing.

USF, right now, is the best team in the AAC.

They played well at Baylor. They play defense. Today they played a patsy but the bench played more than the starters and the subs basically shut out the SF offense. Slow the pace, play defense and you can play with anyone.

I always like Fernandez. He realized he was never going to recruit elite players in the AAC so he went overseas. If I was living in some city on the Baltic or being 18 in Spain where unemployment among youth is like 50%, 4 years in Fla with spending money must sound good.

Kent State defeated Robert Morris today on an unusual play. Down by a point with a few seconds to go, Kent double teamed the inbounding Robert Morris player and scored a layup off the resulting deflection. The story and video is on a Kent State WBB blog.
