9 pt ND lead with just over 2 minutes to go.

Staley calls a timeout.

Ogunbowale missed a pair of free throws. Can't afford to do that.

FT shooting by ND at the end of this game was just sad.

ok, so reffing question. I know in the pros that this is not a call but in this case, ND is shooting a FT, Shepard steps into the lane, the FT shooter still has the ball in her hand, the ref calls lane violation. In the pros it's only a violation if the person stepping into the lane doesn't get back out by the time the ball is released from the shooter's hand. Was this a correct call?

Want an exciting finish? Just have the team with a 13pt lead and 3 minutes left miss a bunch of ft's. Rolling Eyes

when SC was hitting everything from three in the first quarter I thought, 'wow, they've improved a lot' but I guess they then regressed back to normal.

Sounds right to me.

Rule 9, Section 1, Article 1h

Quote:
. After the ball is placed at the disposal of a free-thrower it is a violation when...Any player occupying any of the legal marked lane spaces on each side of the lane breaks the vertical plane of a lane-space boundary before the free-thrower has released the ball.

So I have a question?

Are a lot of teams placing less importance on defense? It seems there is a lot of lazy defense or no defense being played these days. Even Stanford is having problems. This makes me wonder what is going on, are the players not as willing to buy in or are the coaches taking less time teaching it?

I think it depends on the conference, frankly. SEC is still strong on defense. Always was. CAA, where JMU plays, is also pretty strong. Other conferences, not so much. Also depends on the game; if a team from a strong defensive conference is playing OOC against a team from a conference where D is not emphasized, they may take the opportunity. Or not. Or I could just be wrong.

ESPN is a journalistic fraud. On their front page they have headline articles about Florida St beating Samford and Kentucky over Marshall and nothing about S Carolina - Notre Dame. I'd love to hear what Lobo/Lawson have to say about their employer's commitment to wcbb. Rolling Eyes

Yeppers. I won't even say what I think of their commentary on the UT football coach search. That is indeed a mess, but they got it sixty shades of WRONG.

I'm not sure you can pin THAT self-inflicted mess on ESPN.

I'm itching to know how the Shepard vs Wilson match-up looked?
You know, in the Wilt-Russell , Leslie-Jackson , Griner-Fowles sort of way.

The stats are obvious, but Shepard can point to scoreboard, teamgame, coach's chessmatch, etc ...

They weren't exactly matched up. Shepard looks big but slow. I've been underwhelmed. It's the MAC truck vs the Ferrari.

Yeah i had higher expectations for shepard or maybe i let too many posters fill my head with her style of play before i watched myself , but Ive been more so impressed with freshman M. Vaughn so far to be honest.

Vaughn barely played in the SCar game.(3 minutes). Shepard played 36 minutes.

I wonder why , shes been there most consistent post so far this season . Was there any foul trouble ? She saved them against WKU and Oregon state with her play downlow . Along with the 2 great guards Arike & Jackieeeee .
