Dangerfield was all over the court in the first half. The defensive star of the 1st half.

Yes, but more worryingly, Smith has been absent for most of these two games.

At least they're finally calling fouls on UConn......

This is more like it, granted some of UConn's starters are sitting, but Stanford much sharper right now.

What impressed me about UConn was that Stanford did a pretty good job of denying the pass into the paint that UConn thrived on last year and that UConn still scored 49 in the 1st half. It was clear that Tara wanted to take away Collier's inside offense and succeeded but that in doing so left Dangerfield alone outside and unlike Montgomery in 2008, CD made the Trees pay.

Stanford was incompetent the first half. But a game is 40 minutes long, not 20. UConn lost the second half 39-29 and players eight through 12 didn't come in until the fourth quarter. For 40 minutes UConn shot 40% FG, 61% FT, and had only 15 assists. UConn also got out-rebounded 47-40. These are all very poor statistics by UConn's historical standards.

Consequently, I wasn't impressed, especially by their half court offense when not running fast or secondary breaks off turnovers. Without a career game by Dangerfield, which is unlikely to be duplicated this season -- just as her Baylor game was never duplicated last season -- UConn might have struggled against a team with top ball handling/protecting guards and shooters.

I also haven't been impressed by Steven's null set outside shooting in the three games so far.

When you're up by 30 in the second quarter, it's hard to maintain a sense of urgency.

Well that was ugly but if you know anything about Stanford you would have expected it. Can't imagine Tara is having much fun right now. She is scrambling to find players to compete who don't understand what she wants on the defensive end.

And for Link, Tara s defense had nothing to do with Collier. She was employing her usual sag off one of teams other players worst shooters, while over playing those who can shoot the 3 in KLS and Nurse and it bit her. Dangerfield hit her shots and KLS well did what she wanted. Nurse was maybe the most affected as she wasn't able to get open shots.

I will be watching closely but the defensive end of things for Stanford standards was pretty disappointing, they looked as bad as Ohios St did in that game, and they play no defense.

Wow. All I can say is it's goanna be a looooooong time before UConn loses again. This team is loaded, and it has a good mix of returners next year, oh and they keep adding #1 and #1 recruits. Wow.

I'm thinking int he Spring of 2020 we're going to look back and say UConn has won 7 of the last 8, and 9 of the last 12. Unreal. That's like 1990's North Carolina women's soccer level of unreal.

Still things to work on especially rebounding and perimeter defense as a young, inexperienced Stanford not finishing layups, missed put backs and missing wide open threes contributed a lot to the just 14 points in the first half. Also UCONN being out rebounded 47-40 is inexcusable but consistent with last year. Stevens may get more minutes just based upon her defensive interior presence and rebounding.

It could be a long year for your bench beyond the 7 rotation. The level between your starters and the rest is ridiculous, how can they possibly live up to that standard. The drop off was pretty huge in comparison and you wonder if they will get enough time to even close some of the gap.
