This is without putting to much deep thought into it
Ogwumike 13 pts 8 reb 2 blks (Starter heavy minutes 30)
Sims 15 pts 4 reb 4 asts 2 stls (Starter heavy minutes 30)
McBride 8 pts 3 reb 2 asts (Playing behind Hammon and Robinson sharing minutes with Perkins and sometimes S. Johnson struggles prob around 18 minutes)
Thomas 9pts 5 reb 3 asts (Back up minutes at the 3 and 4 lead to decent minutes off the bench 20-25)
Howard 8 pts 5 reb (Backs up Catchings at the 4 and When Catch slides to the 3 gets some minute but no more than 20)
Dolson 7 pts 5 reb 3 asts (Plays behind Vaughn and Messeman 20 minutes)
Harltey 6 pts 3 reb 2 asts (shares back up guard minutes behind Latta and lawson with Mathies 15 min)
Schimmel 9 pts 2 reb 2 asts (Shares minute off the bench behind Hayes and McCoughtry when Hayes slides to the 3 with Thomas and Ajevon 15-18 minutes)
Gatling 7 pts 7 reb 2 blks (Starting or off the bench averges 20 minutes, minutes decrease later in season when/if Fowles returns)
Liston 7 pts 2 reb 2 ast (gets back up minutes at 2/3 behind the starters and Wright 10-15 min)
Hooper 7 pts 3 reb (backs up Powell, Hodges, TJJ, and GloJo at 3 and 4 for 15-20 minutes a night)
Marshall 5 pts 3 reb 1 ast 1 stl (gets 10-15 minutes off bench behind Carson and Cappie at the 2 spot)
Sims barely edges out Ogwumike for rookie of the year
all rookie team
Sims
Ogwumike
Thomas
Schimmel
Gatling
Many will argue that Dolson, McBride and Howard got screwed over in the voting

I don't see 11 rookies avg 5+pts per game.Liston,Hooper & Dolson will not avg 7+ pts per game.

Nneka Ogwumike averaged 14 pts and 7,5 rebounds with barely getting any plays called for her. But Chiney will get more defensive attention from players because she isnt playing with a lot of starplayers.
I see her averaging 14-15 pts and 8 rebounds

It s so hard to guess before the season even begins, I'm going with Sims simply because her impact will be different. Chiney will get more attention from defenders based on the rest of the team. If she were on the Sun with Tina and playing the 4...I'd say she was a lock for ROY. Now she is going to command way more attention so it won't be as easy for her to transition. I can't wait to see the season begin. It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a new season. SO many changes, SO many new players, so much movement to see who gels the best....I also don't count McBride or Dolson out .....just will see how they fit into their new roles. If DOlson comes off the bench all season, she won't have as much impact....Lets see how the cards deal out.

But if she would play with Tina in the post, would she even get some touches? Just like Nneka with Parker. Nneka hardly got the ball she got most of her points off offensive rebounds and putbacks and running the floor hard in transistion

Good points.....who knows how this will pan out. I just can't wait to see it all unfold.

Dont get me started on the difference between drafts. Chiney has some actual competition in this draft from players like Sims and Thomas.
Nneka was the clear cut number 1 draft pick.
ROY=Chiney

Much depends on whether DuMerc gets classified as a rookie

OoOOOooo.... the honary mention in the European League awards gets a mention from pilight. I think she's actually shorter than Prahalis and about the same weight. What makes her a lock for the ROY?

She's not a lock. Nobody is. She could contend for the award.

I voted for Sims. I think the honor could be hers especially if she comes in banging and can lift Tulsa at least somewhat out of the abysmal pit they insist on living in. Which I also think is entirely possible. But I do believe that Chiney will walk away with the award. It's expected and they probably have her name printed on it already. |

Dumerc will be a solid ball-distributor and spot up shooter but she won't score nearly enough points in this league to e a contender. She only averages 9 ppg in 31 minutes in EuroLeague, and won't get that kind of time here even if she does beat out Jas Thomas for the starting spot.
Not that she'll get playing time with the Lynx, but Damiris Dantas is technically a rookie First-Round draft pick. I only see her getting around 8-10 minutes and averaging about 4 and 3, but she should at least be noted.

It's possible to win without a big scoring PG. Several teams have done it.

She's a point guard who can run a team and doesn't demand too many shots, who's been playing on a team that plays inside-out and super-balanced team ball, who's been shooting 40% from three-point range. Sounds just about perfect for Atlanta to me.
But I presume PickledGinger was talking about her being a contender for Rookie of the Year - and I'd agree she won't win that. Won't have the raw stats to garner votes from part-time viewers, and being 31 years old always turns away voters for ROY - you're not considered a 'proper' rookie. |

So now I will over simplify my prediction.
Whoever score more points per game between Sims and C. Ogwumike will win (barring either one have mind blowing numbers in another stat for their position.)
