Well, I think we are just coming down to realistic levels after funding was pumped in for Sydney Olympics. But I quite like this analysis.... Laughing

Yeah, the media talk here was overwhelmingly negative about our so-called disappointing result, but overall I think we still punch well above our weight given our population.
My days of watching the olympics started in the 80's, and golds were definitely much rarer then than they are for us these days.

(As for the quality of that formula: no comment!)

I remember being taken out of class in primary school to watch Debbie Flintoff-King win 400m hurdles in 1988 such was the excitement over one possible gold medal.
