I wish all of Misty May and Kerri Walsh's matches were in prime time.

Lolo finished out of medal contention. I guess that means she'll be a bigger star than ever.

this.... they saw the need to mention her twice in the post race... and to reiterate how valiant her effort was.... that was a great race tho.... sally pearson is one of the most focused athletes i've ever seen... she was locked in.... dawn harper started leaning too soon... it cost her the gold...

Two thoughts.

How many pairs of those ugly yellow shoes were sent to London?

Male runners should be required to wear black shorts.

I don't know that I've ever watched more Olympics. It's possible. But I don't know. This one is up there. And for a while I was like in Nirvana; I didn't want it to ever end.

But BOY am I ever getting there now Shocked

My all time favorite event is coming up tonight, (actually 'tonight' in NBCTV reality) the women's 4x100 relay. I love it because it's like a coda on the whole big stadium track & field this Olympics moment in time thingy. It has a whisp of sadness as it features and sort of recalls the great female sprinters of these (or any) games. And there's four times the great chunky asses running around the track in any one race. Twisted Evil

But let's get this thing over with already.

Yea, yea...when I saw Michael Phelps on the medal stand, all I kept seeing were those humongous yellow shoes. Very very ugly.

That was hysterical! Thanks Luuuuc!

Having worked crew for a race in the San Francisco bay, I knew slightly more than the announcer. I kept thinking "it looks like they're lining up to start the race" until he finally announced that very thing. The race I crewed had an Aussie sailor who was VERY competitive - and played by Aussie rules, that are apparently as different as American football is from Aussie rules football. He was screaming at opposing boats to get out of his way and failing to warn me when the boom was coming.

I, of course, particularly liked the announcer repeatedly calling the crowd "idiots" as he couldn't understand why they were showing crowd shots in the middle of a race.

I call them "highlighter shoes" because they look exactly like the color of a yellow highlighter to me.

One of my former players got a pair of neon yellow soccer cleats and post a pic on her facebook page saying she wants to stand out.

I sent her a message telling her that she didn't need neon soccer cleats to do that, all she had to do was continue to be herself and she stood out just fine.

Sounds like you're talking about fives.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fives

...which is super minor sport that I didn't know people even played in the US. Huh.

ETA: Although apparently there's something else called American handball. Wtf. Shocked The only handball I knew growing up was the Olympic version.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_handball

We had that kind of hand ball in California too.

the handball sambista is talking about is the kind i grew up with in new york also... just about every playground had a big caged in wall that was the handball court... the ball was a rouge colored rubber ball about the size of a tennis ball.... the same ball we used to play street stickball....

funny thing... it was big in new york city.... but non existent across the river in newark nj.... maybe it was ny's huge puerto rican influence....

It's bike riding....of course it is boring to watch. Unless there is a major crash or something, for me at least it is something that just doesn't register a pinprick of interest.
