for once a draw comes out pretty even. Group B would likely be the group of death, but I would hardly call that. There's so many new & unknown teams in the WC(Costa Rica, Colombia, New Zealand, Switzerland) that I'd expect a few suprises.

Group stage has finished and the quarterfinals are now set.

7/24:
Germany vs. North Korea
Sweden vs. Colombia

7/25:
Mexico vs. South Korea
USA vs. Nigeria

very surprised to see Colombia advance over France in Group A and for Mexico to not only advance, but win Group C. I'm pulling for at least one upset in the quarters.

It's such a weird feeling watching South Korean football and not being completely embarrassed... Laughing Actually we've looked pretty good so far. Gooooo Korea.

The USA lost to Nigeria on penalty kicks this morning. The USA captain missed her PK (the first of the round). On Nigeria's third PK, the referee ruled TWICE that the USA goaltender moved before the shot (after she made two saves). On the third try, the Nigerian player hammered it home. Sad When the USA missed its second PK of the round, it was over (since Nigeria never missed).

two big upsets in the quarterfinals. Unknowns Colombia advance and Nigeria shocks USA. It's even more interesting that one of those will be advancing to the championship match.

July 29
Germany vs. South Korea - 9:30am EST
Colombia vs. Nigeria - 12:30pm EST

Both games will air on ESPNU & ESPN3.com
