For those of you playing Triple Threat...

How does it compare to the WNBA's former game, WVGM? I am not playing Triple Threat, but upon a quick read of the rules, it seems that WVGM was much more involved as far as statistical analysis of players and more involved as far as research in making selections (at least those of us who were playing to win, not necessarily playing for fun alone).

So...how do the games compare? Any preference?

IMO, WVGM is a far superior game. It is much more involved as far as knowing players stats and such. I hope they bring it back! I'm not just saying this because I kinda suck at Triple Threat. I really like WVGM better. Mad

Same here! It's just too hard to rely on ONE player per day. At least in VGM if you have an off night or DNP for a player, sometimes the other 4 can make up for it. There doesn't seem to be any strategy to picking a player. Anyone can have a big night - and any usual good scorer can have a bad night. Thank goodness for Reb's vgm game!!!

Yes, I had the same take on the Triple Threat when it was announced, and my opinion hasn't changed Confused Arrow

My guess is that either it was too late in the NBA.com/ESPN VGM handover to make a WVGM game, too much money, or because they wanted to create and promote an easier game to play and to win at for newcomers who can play on a weekly basis.

I can understand the last reason, but why not have both? Question NBA.com had 3 games going on at once before... And the bigger problem with the TT, is that since less research is required, you don't come away from the game as a particularly knowledgeable fan. You'll really only be familiar with the stars.

BTW, how about a ASG WVGM single play game? Idea

I'm doing fairly well at both, and I greatly prefer WVGM.

Triple Threat has been different and fun, but IMO ... WVGM is much more strategic and challenging. It would be great if they brought it back next year!!

Strange to agree with Admiral (except that we both think his avatar is hot) but I do in this case. A WVGM for tomorrow would have been alot of fun, but that it didn't count in the overall standings, just like the game itself doesn't. Maybe next year?

On a related but not important note, I missed my first day of the WVGM yesterday of the whole season, and fell from 15th to 28th. Bummed doesn't even describe how I felt when I realized it was 4:30 and I had forgotten to set my team.

The WVGM definately has more strategy than TT and makes you more familiar with all of the players. TT can be more of a hit or miss thing, but there is some strategy as far as when to pick good players during the week if they play more than one game. Then it's also knowing who the sleeper pick could be for a given night. But overall, RebKell's game is better.
