Quote:
Second-year guard Giuliana Mendiola was waived from Monarchs training camp Sunday.
The 2003 Pacific-10 Player of the Year at Washington, Mendiola made the Monarchs' 2004 roster as an undrafted camp invitee.

Because of a back injury, the 5-foot-11 guard was carried on injured reserve most of the season. In six games, Mendiola averaged 1.7 points and 0.8 rebounds in 6.5 minutes.

In the Monarchs' 103-79 exhibition victory over the Chinese National Team on Friday night, Mendiola played eight minutes with two points, on free throws.

I have a friend who's a Monarchs season ticket holder, and spoke to Mendiola many times last season. She says G-Mend didn't have a back injury.

So I guess that means then Mendiola was waived for non-injury related reasons then.... Shocked Well, there's always Chicago... Confused

She won't get picked up-she's WAY TOO SLOW!!

You can score, granted she can-but if you can't get back on defense you don't deserve to be on the court, plain and simple.

I have MANY friends in Sacramento who are long time season ticket holders as well-and they all heard late last year in the playoffs against Seattle that she was lucky to be on the team and that a lot of veteran players felt sorry for her because of how slow she was.

Put it this way-a certain Monarchs "guard" ran sets of lines against Giuliana in practice last season when she came back from her injury-and that girl ran 3 complete sets of lines in the same amount of time it took Giuliana to run just 1 set!

The way I read that quote, it says she had a back injury LAST season, and that's why she spent a majority of the season on the injured list.
