When I've pointed out my annoyance at loaded Friday/Sundays and empty Saturdays in previous years, it's also been suggested to me that playing Friday/Sunday is how you get closest to two weekend dates while still avoiding back-to-backs. But yeah, 5-0-6 is definitely not my preferred games per day weekend.

It's all part of an unfortunate picture that has been explored here for many years. Yes, as Richyyy says quite rightly, Friday/Sunday scheduling allows two weekend dates without back-to-backs. And there are many marketing reasons to have two weekend dates when possible. But for the players--and therefore for the quality of basketball we see--two weekend dates are better than back-to-backs but hardly ideal, especially when there is often travel in between a Friday night game and a Sunday afternoon game.
