Why shouldn't Reese consider it a joke that for the first time ever, the losing team is being considered for a White House invite? It's nonsense. I said a lot of shit about the officiating and about Mulkey in various game threads on the Internet, but LSU won and earned the invite. Iowa lost. If they want to go to the White House they can win a title.

I don't know if you support either team (I don't) but if Iowa had won and Jill Biden had said she wanted to invite LSU, I would bet every cent I have that Clark, Czinano & company would be pissed. Imagine if Obama were president today, Iowa won and Michelle Obama said she wanted to invite Iowa and LSU to the White House. She wouldn't but just imagine. I'm with Reese on this one. It will be precedent-setting if it happens (and Iowa accepts).

Queenie, this isn't directly to you, I just don't feel like responding to all the comments and your post was handy.
She can be pissed all she wants. She can be fucking pissed if she wants to be fucking pissed.
It's an invitation that is often offered to winning teams (I'll never understand why, but whatever).
Sometimes in life you just bite your tongue and be gracious. Sometimes you need to remove the chip from your shoulder or the stick up your ass.
Plus, no invitation has been extended to Iowa (or LSU for that matter afaik. There's nothing to be pissed about yet.

| BTW: lots of people get invited to the White House, not just sports teams. I got invited when I was a junior in HS for scholastic stuff. It's a really cool thing, so while I was joking about it above, I really do think more invites are nice. Set a new precedent and always invite the final two teams...or more.

I disagree. I don't think Jill Biden is a horrible person but the damage has already been done. Even if she and/or her PR folks walk it back what she said cannot be unsaid.

Totally agree. What the hell is she thinking? This will just feed into the racial context of this game.
I was rooting for Iowa but LSU won and should be the only team going to the WH.
