Iowa needs to make a ton threes to pull off this upset.

The #1 national Scoring Offense versus the #1 national Scoring Defense. Me thinks this will NOT be where the game is decided - rather, it will lie in the battle of the #7 national Scoring Offense versus the #307 national Scoring Defense......

I agree with both of these perspectives. Iowa will have to make 12-18 threes and SCar will have to make none. Clark will have to penetrate for a lot of layups and draw a bunch of shooting fouls. Iowa will have to defend without getting anyone in foul trouble.

Even if that all happens, I don't see Czinano having a big scoring game on the inside against SCar's paint defense, and I don't see any way for Iowa to stop SCar's paint shot, offensive rebound, putback offense.

Put another way, Iowa's outside scoring would have to exceed SCar's inside scoring. While this is possible for a red hot Iowa team, I wouldn't bet on it.

Iowa will have to limit South Carolina's offensive rebounding. If the Hawkeyes can avoid giving the Gamecocks too many second and third chances they'll have a shot to win.

You DID see Clark's last performance, right? Razz

IFF Iowa can pull this off, it'll take everything mentioned here to materialize. There IS also the *unknown*....does any key player get into foul trouble early? Does this one twist an ankle? Is that one just OFF that game? Prior stats are always relevant, but then....there are also Cinderella plots (just ask Miami!)

Saw an article yesterday that claims Clark has a higher three point percentage from 25 feet and beyond than she does from inside 25 feet (line is 22 feet). If true, must be because she is less defended outside 25 feet.

South Carolina is too tall and athletic inside for Iowa. And too quick outside. Will take Clark delivering a miracle for Iowa to win.

I could not care less if we win this game because for the first time in 30 years we are still ~*dancing*~ babyyyyyy Cool

Something I was thinking about today. Everyone knows Kelsey Plum led Washington to the Final Four in 2016. But no one that I know talks about or even really cares who they lost to after that or what the score was. I expect in 5-10 years this game will be remembered (or not remembered) similarly.

Alright, maybe the Washington run was a bit more of a Cinderella story with them being a 7-seed. But there are a lot of similarities.

Think about it. It's a swamp just like Washington. School selections, friendships, acquaintances, affiliations, Mega-Billions of dollars available and at risk, school income and notoriety, sponsors, corporations, advertisers, networks, cable, gambling, memorabilia, clothing sales, power, control, job security, travel, future incentives and jobs, paybacks, quid pro quo, etc. etc.

Do you actually think these things don't go on?

Which team do you think the NCAA wants to win?

What two teams do you think the NCAA, Corporate America and the Biden Administration prefer to win? Come on, I'll bet you can do it...

RavenDog - and I ask this out of love - are you over-medicating? Shocked I mean, first you're seeing basketball played "too fast", and now you think Biden could even RECOGNIZE a NCAA wbb team?? I can't disagree with the influence of $$$$ in NCAA, but still.....(Biden?)

You can't do it and it's your silly game.

The NCAA that leaves 10s of millions on the table every year because they don't care enough to unbundle the women's tournament from all the small time championships isn't likely to fix games in that same tournament. One look at the men's F4 would make it abundantly clear that they are either not fixing games for the reason you suggest or that they are really bad at it.

call me a hater, but the officiating has to eventually catch up with SCar and Boston specifically. she gets away with so much, and gets so many 'hypocritical calls' her way.

yes Iowa needs everything to go right, but i do think it comes down to officiating.

One could say the same thing about Clark getting away with flops and push-offs.

The suggestion that officiating is the primary thing standing in the way between Iowa beating South Carolina is just... absurd. And I am an Iowa fan.

Never said fixing... It's over your heads and inappropriate for this forum.
So, I regress and say, I was wrong. Enjoy the games!

Apparently, it was the DVR. When a game is being recorded but being watched on DVR simultaneously (with a delay to miss the advertisements) it runs the game faster than at the normal speed. I didn't know this so thanks again to Tally for enlightening me!

Biden is 100% signing an executive order to have Villanova in the final four and the champion ship game.

I would love for Iowa to win, but really, I hope for an epic game. Would be a letdown to see a blowout (though if Iowa wants to do the blowing out, I won't argue!)

Also will be quite curious to see how it's officiated. Does Clark get superstar treatment? How physical do the refs allow South Carolina to be?

Hopefully they pick up their game (I assume it's the same crew); I was not impressed with their first half of LSU-Virginia Tech
