Leapin'Lizards, I never thought Iowa could win by being so overwhelmingly rebounded and hitting only 7 threes. SCar's defense was effete against Clark.

No one in WBB history could have done what Clark has done in the past two games.

I haven't seen a lot of South Carolina or Iowa this year. I was really surprised that South Carolina couldn't defend the pick-and-roll better.

Go Iowa! Beat LSU.

A truly epic performance by Clark. She made South Carolina look mediocre defensively.

Perhaps what impressed or surprised me most is how easily she was able to get to the rim.

If you'd said Iowa would give up 25 offensive rebounds, South Carolina would more than double them in total rebounds, and Iowa would only shoot 31.8% from 3, you'd think there was no way they could win.

That was one hell of a game. I hope the championship game is as good. So often recently the semis have been so much more exciting. Why is that? Is it some fault with the seeding? I think we can all agree that SelComm needs to rework that….

Was that Nancy Lieberman that hugged Clark and Bluder as they were leaving the floor?

As a fan of wbb I wanted either of these teams to beat Kim Mulkey.

But I think it’s better for the game that the great offensive team
Won.

Not really surprised either. Clark was the best player on the floor (as great as Boston is). That wins in March.

it is refreshing to see the offensive team win in an unstoppable offense-oriented force vs. immovable defense-oriented object. seems like that doesn't happen enough. defense wins championships, but mayhaps not semifinal games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

but sunday is in April so now i'm nervous again lmfao

Not a good day to be a #1 seed from the southeast.

SoCar is bigger, but Iowa is quicker. Iowa-LSU will be a better game than SoCar-LSU anyway. And Bluder is the classiest dresser of the four.

I welcome Boston's return.

Btw, any truth to the scuttlebutt that Dawn is planning to hang a banner that sez:

All the love for Caitlin Clark aside (and heaven knows she deserves it), how about some props for Lisa Bluder? She outcoached Dawn Staley tonight.

Truth. Hawkeyes and Tigers differ so much, but it may all just 'even out', resulting in a FANTASTIC game!

Oh YE of Little Faith!! Razz

Magnificent game. Well played by both teams. To me, Iowa just ratcheted up their game a few notches, and SC was not as *on* as they have been, leading to all the runs, ties, and lead changes. It came down to who could come up with the next crafty play or clever stop. Definitely, this one came down to Clark and The Clarkettes outlasting Cook and the Cookettes.

One point game at the half. This is usually when SCar steps on pesky bugs and pulls steamrollery away. However, they haven't seen this creative an offense in the SEC. If Iowa can keep it close . . . .

THIS. SEC fans undervalue Big Ten offenses, saying that our scoring numbers are over-inflated because they come against bad defenses. That is true to an extent, but it goes both ways! SEC defensive numbers are artificially depressed because the offenses they are defending are... not great.

Me too! They stayed home on all of our perimeter shooters instead of helping defending the paint when Clark was driving. It felt like they were hoping that if they didn't allow 3's, they would be able to score more 2's than us. Makes sense given their tremendous rebounding advantage. But it seems they underestimated Clark's ability to get to the rim as well as Czinano's ability to score around/over superior size.

Usually offense wins in the pros but defense wins in college. This was an exception!

It's amusing to me when SC/SEC fans hate on Iowa's system. Most SC fans are also Las Vegas Aces fans due to the A'ja Wilson connection, and the Aces are IMO the best comparison to Iowa of any WNBA team. (The main difference being that Wilson is a stronger defensive anchor inside than Czinano is -- like, lightyears better.)

I'm just glad that a team can beat #1 without having to have a huge post....Iowa's post was not as big as SC's but she seemed to be in the right place at the right time and was quick.....

its the guard play, always has been, and too many teams really on just being big to win....

skills....old fashioned skills...

call me a hater, but the officiating has to eventually catch up with SCar and Boston specifically. she gets away with so much, and gets so many 'hypocritical calls' her way.

yes Iowa needs everything to go right, but i do think it comes down to officiating.

The suggestion that officiating is the primary thing standing in the way between Iowa beating South Carolina is just... absurd. And I am an Iowa fan.

i think officiating certainly helped iowa, and i think boston got some fouls called on her that she normally would not.

If Iowa Wins, it’ll Be the first time I’ve personally seen a heliocentric offense win a championship.
