Great game so far. Iowa up 18-14, under 3 in Q1. Caitlin Clark just sank her first bucket.

On what page of the "Carolyn Peck Women's Basketball Rulebook" does it say that if both players beat the crap out of each other on a play, then there is no foul on either one?
She spouts that nonsense all the time to excuse a ridiculous no-call. That's simply not how the rules are supposed to work. When there is blatant contact it's a foul, and it's up to the officials to determine on whom it should be called, or both.

Sorry Peck, but we don't owe games like OhSt vs Iowa on TV to Pat Summit, we owe it to Representatives Patsy Mink and Edith Green and Senator Birch Bayh, without whom there would not have been a Title IX.

OhSt plays good defense but how can they leave Clark wide open for a 3 at this point of the game?

This has been horrible clock management by OhSt during this last minute. Cmon McGuff, you're better than that.

And she got it! 28/10/15 Iowa for the W. #2 Ohio State goes DOWN.

It's tough to win in a few of these major conferences.
There will be more upsets in the ACC, B10, PAC and Big12 before we get to March.

Stanford back to #2? Or does unbeaten LSU sneak in?

I expected this result, but it's comforting that The Clarkzano Machine proved me right. |

TOP NOTCH game. One of the best I've seen in a good while. Kudos to the fans for showing up, big time.....fantastic crowd.
There was no EXTREMELY Elite Talent on the floor (other than Clark, obviously) however: the beauty of this game, to me, was the fantastic teamwork. Both teams were impressive, with Ohio State's intense defense executing nicely, and Iowa's team chemistry shining through the pressure.
At some point in Q2, The Buckeyes looked discombobulated when they realized their amazing defense was not squashing the Hawkeyes. Their defensive intensity came blazing back in the second half, but Iowa was not to be denied, and Ohio State's 38% shooting was only helping Iowa's cause.

OK, now it's not just the halftime show, but Peck and Lyle can't stop hyping a completely unrelated, far less important, game coming up on Thursday even while this game is going on right in front of them.
Isn't it wonderful how ESPN has a stranglehold on our favorite sport. |
Talk about needing to drink!! That's precisely why I start watching the game 20 min late, so I can f-f through that blather.
Re: the upcoming ranking shuffle, I found it interesting that, on Monday, the pollsters bumped Kim's team down one notch (still having ZERO losses) and Tara's club - still with 2 losses - goes UP one notch, to trade places. OH St. must drop, obviously, but....does Stanford go up by mere attrition? Not gonna get my knickers in a twist on this, but it'll be interesting to see.
