MSU fell behind by 17 very early in the 2nd Q but closed to within 8 at halftime. After that they could never quite get over the hump with the Ore lead oscillating between about 9 and 4 most of the second half. MSU tied it for a moment early in the 4th Q but Ore quickly got it back to 9.

Final score 86-78.

<BIG Sigh> Razz

Gotta give MI St. credit....they did NOT give up. McDaniel is a baller (anybody know the back story on how/why she bounded from Penn ST > Baylor > MI St?) One thing they did VERY well was press (and general defense was good).

Oregon showed they are NOT ready for prime time in handling that kind of press....and with their talent, it shouldn't present a problem, imo. Their FG shooting % was quite good (53 & 52), FT's a bit improved at 78%.

Philly definitely showed out today. 15/16, with a couple of big blocks - this was a much improved performance by the sophomore. I'd have loved to see her matchup with Soares, had they beaten UNC.

Rogers also had a MUCH better game with only 3 TOs, compared to last game's 8....way better decisions. Throwing in 19 pts helped, too.

The 3 freshmen looked good today, also. To say nothing of the refs! THEY were actually pretty decent.

Lots of positives. Now. Can they get this "Get A Big Lead, Then Choke" monkey off their backs?
